LITTLE RED RETREAT

SLEEPS: 4

BEDROOMS: 2

BATHROOMS: 1

LAKE/WATERFRONT: 200ft of waterfront on Lake Superior
**This cottage is not completely secluded. There are neighbors within view. Also, the beach is not directly accessible from the back door due to erosion. There is a very short walk to the beach access which is about 100 feet away.

This is an older cottage, and there is a noticeable musty smell when you enter. If you haven't stayed in a vintageMichigan cottage before, this may not be the best fit. However, for those who appreciate the nostalgic feel and the incredible proximity to Marquette and Lake Superior, it can be absolutely ideal. The sandy beach along Lake Superior—just a quick jaunt from the heart of Marquette—offers a dreamy glimpse into the simplicity of yesteryear. The Little Red Retreat blends the true historical roots of the Upper Peninsula with touches like a small indoor sauna.

The captivating surroundings of this red cottage wrap you in trees as you follow the short 100-foot walk to the water. The ease of this single-level cottage makes it perfect for a small family. While neighbors are nearby—and occasionally their chickens and ducks wander through the property—the setting is peaceful and inviting for those looking to enjoy the treasures of Lake Superior.

Inside, the galley kitchen and small dining table for four create a cozy space to cook, unwind, and make memories together. Relaxing in the living room at the end of the day is a simple pleasure to be cherished.

Outside, you'll find a main deck as well as an additional deck perched on the dunes, making it easy to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. If “cozy and vintage” (sights and smells included) mixed with breathtaking views and a sandy beach are on your bucket list, Little Red Retreat will welcome you with open arms. And if you're visiting an excited NMU student, you'll find this cottage an ideal home base for your Upper Peninsula stay.

Either way, Little Red Retreat provides an authentic slice of Michigan's Northwoods charm—simple, nostalgic, and wonderfully connected to the natural beauty around it.

This cottage provided incredible access to beautiful Lake Superior, including a firepit on the beach. Everything functioned as expected. The UP is more rugged than, say, Miami, so context is key when reviewing. From what we saw, this cottage is probably one of the best in the UP. Communication with the host was excellent, which is important to us. Thank you for a unique and memorable vacation.

The cabin has a perfect location between many of the sight seeing stops on our list. The water at the cabin and views were gorgeous! The walk is a little rough, up and around the dune/trees. The house was very cute and had everything we needed for our stay.

We loved our stay at the Little Red Retreat. We wanted to be close to Lake Superior and the beach so this spot was perfect. Bonus was the sauna to warm up in after swimming in the cold water. The house was clean and had all the amenities needed. I was pleasantly surprised by the better than average kitchen supplies like knives and pots and pans! Even though there are neighbors, it is very quiet and peaceful. Thanks for a great stay!

It was a cute little cabin but it was a little pricey for me . Access to the lake was very in accessible for an old man with a cane,
