Our cabin is nestled in the majestic mountain terrain of Gallatin National Forest and is just twelve miles from Gardiner, a year round gateway to Yellowstone National Park. It is the perfect distance to be able to enjoy Yellowstone but be able to get away from the crowds. From The Lazy M Yellowstone National Park is a scenic 20-25 minute drive. Our cabin is 30 minutes from Chico Hot Springs, an hour from Livingston, and hour and a half from Bozeman Airport.

The cabin is adjacent toCinnabar Creek, which is great for small trout fishing, and has a magnificent porch with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the beautiful mountain view. If you want to just sit back and relax you can spend hours sitting on the porch next to the creek drinking coffee or wine while reading one of our many books or just enjoying the peaceful environment. Watch deer, elk, and big horn sheep in the meadow out the front door, along the creek or on the nearby bluffs. Bears have also been seen from the porch and along the road. If you are really lucky you may even see a mountain lion. During the evening hours make sure to keep an ear open for howling wolves.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, pull out sleeper sofa in main cabin and a Tulikivi Fireplace.

This is a mountain cabin in the heart of Montana’s wilderness. While it has most of the amenities of home, it is still a rustic cabin. We have books, travel guides and games in the cabin. There is no TV or phone in the cabin. WiFi is satellite and therefore not extremely reliable; if you absolutely need internet during every moment of your stay you should look elsewhere. We did just upgrade to Starlink so internet should be faster and more reliable but it is still satellite so could be affected by weather (May 2023).
We allow 2 night stays during off-season and to fill during summer. There is a $75 cleaning fee for 2 night rentals.
All animal photos & photos of surrounding area were taken by Laurel Koller. Ask permission to use any photo.

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for!! It was defiantly a cabin in the woods away from the hussle and bussle of the city. We got to see wildlife right outside the cabin everyday. There was a nice porch to sit outside and enjoy nature at its finest. It was about a 25 minute drive to the front gate of Yellowstone National Park. Host were very quick about responding to any questions we had prior to our stay. Never had to contact them while were we there, so i guess thats good! There was not very good cell service there but it wasn't great in the park either which was kind of nice! Deinraly recommend booking this cabin if you want to be one with nature and nothing else!

The captain was very nice however I wish I would’ve known about the man that lives right outside the bedroom window. It was hot at night so you had to sleep with the windows open. A fan would’ve been nice to have, but it was a little awkward knowing that there was a man right there. But other than that, everything was great.

My husband nicknamed the property The Pint. It was perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed our time there. It had everything that we would need and the added beautiful location and rushing creek was absolutely wonderful.

I picked this place because it seemed like a very cozy cabin that was in striking distance of Yellowstone National park. After my stay, I can say that I was right on both counts! The cabin was fantastic and has everything you might want: a porch with chairs to start the day with a cup of coffee, a great fireplace, and all the amenities you need to cook or wind down or just relax. There’s even great internet access if you want to listen to music or watch a movie. The hosts are incredibly generous with their time and were very helpful before and during my trip with all kinds of questions (from weather to where to get groceries). If you’re looking for a home base to explore Yellowstone, look no further, this is it! You’re close to the park, close to Gardiner and its activities and restaurants, and even close to some amazing hot springs just down the road (highly recommend going there if it works with your trip : Yellowstone Hot Spring). This place is everything it advertises and more. Book this place for a restorative escape from a busy life. You will not regret it!!

This was our fourth stay at this delightful cabin. It is comfortable and convenient for wildlife watching in Yellowstone. On a quiet road, with elk and bighorn sheep along the way.

The cabin is clean, well stocked and everything works. However, the picture is not an accurate depiction of the property, which made the property more difficult to locate. The good thing is that there is a nice deck on the left side of the house, the bad thing is that there are elevated fuel tanks on the right side of the house. Also, due to the height of the grass, the boulders that protect the lateral field are not easily visible and constrict the turnaround space quite a bit. If you have a large vehicle, you will need to back in from the road. Be aware, there is no cell coverage (Verizon), the road to the cabin is quite washboardy, which is not the fault of the owners. The sound of the creek is relaxing and the lack of internet and tv contributes to the overall Montana experience.

The check-in and communication with the owner was great! Loved how cozy and quaint it was and had enough amenities to make it so we had what we needed. Internet was a bit choppy but expected. Be aware of the long gravel road in poor condition. Would totally stay again!!

Cabin was exactly as advertised. It was rustic but had everything there to make it a pleasant stay. The large stream running beside the cabin was a bonus It was located about 20 minutes off the highway, but that made it more secluded and peaceful. We spent most of our time in the park, but it would be a great place just to stay there and relax in peace.

We loved the cabin so much. Driving to the location was a little intimidating but so worth it. It was so quiet and peaceful. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. I loved sitting on the front porch. It was a good location to enter Yellowstone through the north entrance. Would definitely return again.

This was our second time staying at the Lazy M and it was incredible and beautiful. Very private and Quiet, unlike the rush you would get staying at a hotel or resort. Once you stay, you will see why this place is special!
