Stayed Aug 1, 2025This home exceeded our expectations in every way — stunning views, thoughtful amenities, and endless opportunities for adventure. We (and our pups) absolutely loved our time here. The location is perfect, with easy access to FairPlay, Alma, and some of the most beautiful hiking trails and wildlife sightings we've experienced. The home was spotless upon arrival and even ready for an early check-in, which was a pleasant surprise. SHVR’s communication and hospitality were top-notch — truly the best we've encountered. We can’t recommend Gold Trail Retreat highly enough!

Stayed Jun 20, 2025We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was peaceful and had everything we needed for our family of 3. The sauna was great and we’d love to come back in the winter!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Me and my family had a blast days at this house, we luck to see snow dropping. The house very comfortable, nice and clean everything you need has in the house. Just make sure to get a 4wd car in winter time, it's one hour drive from attractions. I definitely will back to stay in the same house.

Stayed May 27, 2023The place was great overall. However, it was difficult to get to the real property without calling the owner. Additionally, one of my guests forgot her necklace inside the cabin which she has not got back yet although the property owner says s/he has mailed the said item in an envelope. Granted, we should have been more careful but the same holds true when mailing it. Finally, the place could use some extra indoor and outdoor sports such as pool house and maybe a playground outside but it wasn’t bad without them either. Also, very important to note is the access road is all unpaved for couple of miles so it’s better to be prepared for that.

Stayed Feb 28, 2023It was always a nice drive to and from the property. Everyday we would come across some moose. The travel time from the start of the community to the home was about 15 mins even with icy and or nonplowed road conditions. Thankfully our AWD vehicle was equipped with snow tires and made the commute manageable especially when some parts of the road weren't plowed yet. Communte to the Fairplay was about 10 mins to include the grocery store. The home's elevation was 11,500 ft, so drink plenty of water, take that first day to adjust to it, and bring some symptom relieving meds to enjoy your stay. I would've appreciated if there was a portable humidifier in the home (other than the sauna) for guest that are not used to the dry climate. Home was very clean and spacious. Kitchen is equipped with plenty cooking appliances. The King bed in the main bedroom was rather comfy. Overall, I would recommend staying in this home in the Winter or Summer!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We recently stayed at Gold Trail Retreat and it was an incredible experience. The location was perfect, nestled in the trees with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The house itself was modern, well-appointed and spacious, with comfortable furnishings and all the amenities needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The outdoor spaces were the highlight of the rental, with a large deck that was perfect for taking in the mountain scenery and a great cedar barrel sauna that was the perfect way to unwind after a day of skiing at Breckenridge. The nearby trails were fantastic for snowshoeing in the woods. I would highly recommend this mountain house rental to anyone looking for a serene and peaceful escape in the mountains away from the crowds.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969the place was great and our extended family really enjoyed it. A couple of your employees, whose names I unfortunately can't recall, stopped by to bring us some sheets on the night of the 17th and were very generous with advice about local activities; super nice, we really appreciated it. I hope everything stays cool in Moldova for the fiance of one of you - we enjoyed chatting with both of you guys. Most of our party grew up in CO and some still live there. We get together in the Mountains almost every summer somewhere between Hoosier Pass and Salida and will certainly check out Second Home's listings for next summer. We're having a problem with the billing, which I believe to be the fault of airbnb, and Angela has put in a ticket with airbnb to try and get that resolved. We signed for an early season rate of $167/night, but were invoiced $213/night. According to Angela, there isn't any early season rate in July, but that's what we were offered and signed up to, ref. the screenshots I emailed. BTW, if I go to your airbnb page right this minute I see EARLY SUMMER SEASON SPECIAL PRICING - Gold Trail https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/29917684?adults=6&children=2&check_in=2022-08-01&federated_search_id=4eb5d36e-79c4-4470-9f78-e3d4276cbb5a&source_impression_id=p3_1658618530_lmW70VIBmUWudbPy&guests=1&check_out=2022-08-05 although the rate is not $167. anymore, airbnb does not seem to understand that it's not early season to you anymore.
