Cache, Oklahoma
The Iron Door Cabin is a tribute to a fabled treasure buried high in a cave in the Wichita Mountains. Belle Starr and her gang were said to have hidden a vast amounts of gold in a cave and covered the opening with an iron door from a railroad car. Sightings of the door stretch back over a hundred years. Will you find these legendary riches
The Lazy Buffalo has 13 individually themed cabins and a Bunkhouse. Each is uniquely decorated to capture the essence of the Wichita Mountains and the history of our hometown.
The Iron Door Cabin has a spacious king size bed with a walk-in tiled shower. Barn wood, knotty pine, and corrugated tin are used throughout this spacious cabin. Dark stained concrete floors and tin ceilings really add a rustic yet elegant vibe.
The kitchenette area has a mini fridge and microwave along with table and chairs. Catch the latest Netflix show from the comfy loveseat or sip on a cup of coffee from the front porch. Watch as the sunsets on the plains, southwest Oklahoma Sunsets are truly amazing.
Enjoy a picnic in our outdoor pavilion area complete with charcoal Grill. When it gets dark, roast marshmallows at the fire pit or relax under the stars in the back of our vintage star gazing truck, located just a short walk from the cabin.
Both kids and adults will love tossing horseshoes, throwing Frisbees at disc golf, playing old fashion board games from the front porch, and creating music in nature at the interactive Music Wall. Don't forget to snap memories at our themed photo ops.
Because we get to host lots of hunters and fishermen, we wanted to provide these guests extra convenience by providing an outdoor fish and small game cleaning station which is located between our bunkhouse and cabins.

The cabin was wonderful and fit the area.
I love the fact that this property is located in a very quiet area with minimum traffic. The atmosphere is so calming soothing and relaxing.
Loved the cozy cabin, great decor. Just far enough from the highway. Got to see a jet flying around by the mountains
a VERY NICE place to stay! Everything you need is there. Close to the town of Cache and close to Medicine Park. My friends stayed there and their 1 bedroom was $250 a night 2 night minimum. We just wanted 1 night and it was only $125 and we got to drive through the wilderness area. They also have a fire pit and horse shoes. The room was EXTRA nice w/fridge, microwave, wifi, tv, and the bed was king size confortable. Yes, we are going again.
This is my second time staying at the Lazy Buffalo and it was another good one! Very comfy room as per usual. Clean, clean, CLEAN! I’m sure I’ll be back again. Thank you!
We loved everything about the Lazy Buffalo! It was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. The iron door cabin was perfect for the two of us. We really appreciated the complimentary snacks and drinks and especially the extra goodies that were left for us, for our anniversary. The Lazy Buffalo is such a quaint and peaceful place and in such a beautiful area. We will definitely be going back.
Adorable rustic charm details, hand-wriiten notes, comfy bed! Such a warm and inviting atmosphere with sweet little personal touches! I wish we could stay longer! Next time for sure!!
Nice mangement and cool themed rooms
The room was clean and comfortable with all needed amenities, including Netflix! ?
Nice place and close to MP.
We enjoyed our Lil cozy room and the trip to Medicine Park ??
Love this place! Very clean and quiet. Hosts were amazing! Much better than we expected for the price. Can’t wait to come back!
This was one of the best vacations we've had. The bed was so comfortable. Everything was there that we needed and more. Loved sitting by the fire and really enjoyed the old truck in the back of the place for star gazing. They thought of everything when they built this unique place!
The place is beautiful and the surrounding area is beautiful, the staff was friendly,I would recommend the lazy buffalo to anyone
It was wonderful
We enjoyed our accommodations. The location gave us the opportunity to visit a couple of small towns, enjoy the Wichitas and visit my wife’s birthplace.
The Lazy Buffalo is always so clean. The environment is very welcoming. The beds are so comfortable. I highly recommend the lazy Buffalo
My wife and I enjoyed our stay the Lazy Buffalo. It was close enough drive to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge for our hiking trips and then into Lawton for evening dinners. The cabin was roomy enough for the two of us. I could not get the TV remote to work to watch local news and weather reports.
We are rustic people. Very down to earth so The Lazy Buffalo was the perfect place for us. We were very happy with our room, and our weekend stay. We will definitely come back.
The cabin was rustic but cute and comfortable. It is on the outskirts of the Wichita Wildlife Refuge offering great hiking opportunities. It was very quiet and peaceful. I really appreciated the bottled water!
Great.
This cabin was perfect and wasn’t far for any activities we wanted to do!! A few miles down the road you could already see buffalo and other wild life! The cabin was perfect and I would definitely come back
Great spot to stay! Clean, safe, simple checking/out. The only Cons: walls aren’t insulated very well, we could hear our neighbors as if they were standing inside our room. But, we were there to hike the Refuge, so it only mattered at night. A good thing to know, however, in case you’re traveling with someone who might be sensitive to noise. Would definitely stay here again. Overall a great experience!
Great place to stay.
Absolutely charming!!!! Exceeded our expectations❤️
Not even five minutes down the road we saw buffalo and steer over and over again. It was an awesome experience. The Lazy Buffalo is very close to Medicine Park and the Wichita Mountains. We went Mount Scott and watched a gorgeous sunset. WE played corn hole and just had a really nice time.
We will travel and visit here again.
The place was amazing! The family and I can not wait to come back!
Very clean and charming
Clean, well taken care of. Right next to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
This was a great place to stay, with so much character and history. We enjoyed the rustic cabin setting, but enjoyed having the refrigerator and microwave. The complimentary water and snacks were appreciated, as we came in late and still had stuff we could snack on.
