We have added Hunter's Cabin on the same property as Stockade Lake Cabin (VRBO #760445) is located. This makes the perfect addition to our already popular cabin when you are traveling with friends or family who need their own separate space and yet want to be near to share meals and good times. Perfect in every way.....Hunter's cabin is perfect size; large enough for two adults, yet smaller than the big cabin, and minus the tv, thus less costly to rent. Logistically to have more than twoguests is difficult, unless a small child. With 480 square feet, it has plenty of room to spread out and enjoy, yet cozy for two. Perfect rustic luxury; new queen bed for a good night's sleep, full bath and kitchen, dining area with large windows to enjoy the views, cozy living area with a freestanding fireplace for those chilly evenings or rainy days which can occur at any time, and yet has electric heat to keep an even temperature of your choice. Perfect outdoor spaces; A covered porch across the front of cabin so you can sit out in all weather and enjoy watching deer and sometimes wild turkeys and even see Stockade Lake across the highway. There is an open patio area on other side off the kitchen with outdoor BBQ and seating area. And we have built a fire pit for your use with firewood, hot dog forks and cooking grate furnished. Hunter's cabin is brand new, but built to look like it has been here for a long time, and is nestled in among old-growth ponderosa pines which have been here likely 100 years or more. Perfect nest to return to after a day of fishing in lake, walking or biking on the bicycle path, also just across the road, or a sightseeing drive through Custer State Park with the entrance about 1500 ft up the road. Perfect headquarters for all your day trips through the hills to enjoy the endless points of interest, and only about a 20 minute drive to Mt. Rushmore. Perfect for those who truly want to bring a pet with them as they travel, as we allow one large dog or two small to medium sized pets. There is a modest pet fee charged at the time of booking.

This cabin was clean, spacious, and pet friendly. The pictures don't do the place justice. It has a lot more room than it appears. The host provided just about everything you would need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice little cabin. Nearby a couple other cabins/homes, but still felt private. Roberta was super sweet and accommodating. Kitchen and bathroom were plenty adequate for the space. Location was great, close to all the things we wanted to do and was one of the main reasons we chose this cabin.

Very nice cozy cabin. Perfect location. Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse close by. Also easy access to wildlife loop and Needles Hwy. Stockade lake right across the street. Downtown about 3 miles away. Had a great time! Roberta is a wonderful hostess. Would definitely visit again.

Hunter’s Cabin was delightful and the hostess was so gracious and went the extra mile for a VRBO property. She was incredibly responsive before our stay. The cabin was just right for the two of us and was charmingly decorated. We cooked our breakfast in the cabin and most of our dinners. Loved how close the property was to Custer State Park. It was right off the highway but felt very sheltered. Would love to come back!

The Hunter's Cabin is a phenomenal location, just a minute from the Custer State Park entrance, yet it is completely private a quiet. A wonderful place for 2 people and a dog. Lots of room to roam on National Forest property, with deer and rabbits galore.

We stayed 4 nights, it was the perfect landing spot for Custer and Wind Cave NP. Roberta’s pics of the cabin don’t do it justice. It’s a wonderful place that is well maintained and I would stay there again without a second thought. It was better than advertised. It was also wonderful having laundry available. Thank you, Roberta, we also respected and appreciated the story of your cabins legacy.

The cabin was very nice and quiet for my stay. Roberta was a great host, she even brought some treats for my first night. I loved the location to everything I was planning to see. My only complaint was that there was a lot of moths that I could not get rid of, however I would stay again as this was a small issue.
