Stayed Dec 31, 2025I loved the wood house, I loved the decorations and there’s many varieties of stores near the area. I loved how is peace, people showed respect to on another. There’s nice and elegant restaurants around the area. You have many sources of getting fishing equipment and hunting gear for the season.

Stayed Oct 19, 2025The host was great. Cabin was nice and the kitchen had all the basics you need. There is a really nice fire pit, however it is a fairly good hike to get to it. Overall we had a great week.

Stayed Sep 9, 2025I really enjoyed the secluded nature of the cabin, yet it did not take a half hour to get to the main road so it was a perfect location. The owner checked in to make sure everything was okay. I would definitely rent it again.

Stayed Sep 20, 2025The cabin was the perfect. Everything you could need was there. The host was friendly and gave us ideas of things to do. Our favorite thing to do was to sit on the rocking chairs and watch the hummingbirds. We would definitely book here again. We enjoyed our stay here.

Melissa is the absolute sweetest person and super easy to get in touch with. If there is anything that you need she will make it happen. Check-in is super easy and the cabin is equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing getaway. Stayed Jul 6, 2025Nothing like the peace & quiet in the mountains. We loved the area and enjoyed the cabin. The driveway is easy with a Front wheel drive car.Overall we were pleased with our stay.The owner is very accommodating and quick to respond. You will love Murphy and staying in Hanging Dog.

Stayed Oct 31, 2024My wife and I greatly enjoyed our visit to Murphy NC and our stay at the Hickory Nut Hide-a-way. Everything at the property was just as it was described by our host. We were very comfortable, and the property was close to everything while still be remote and private. I can't wait for our next visit.

Stayed Oct 9, 2024We scheduled this trip in the summer and then hurricane Milton decided to move our trip up. Melissa worked with us to change our reservation and worked with us so we could leave before Milton and get to her cabin safety. Its beautiful and peaceful and up a mountain which made it so cool! My kids lived it and we took mini hikes ij the morning. Would definitely stay there again

Stayed Jun 14, 2024The property was very clean and well stocked with everything you need. Its located just a short ride from the lake which was where we spent 90 percent of our time. Beds are comfy and the house is exactly what we needed for our week away. Melissa is very sweet and easy to work with. We had no issues with our stay and look forward to visiting again in the future.
