The house we rented was in a fantastic spot with a beautiful ocean view. We loved its location, which was close to the local marina and just a short drive from Botanical Beach. The only slight disappointment was the condition of the furniture and the cleanliness. We understand that late August is a very busy time with many visitors and limited cleaning staff, but we hope this can be improved in the future. The letter we received from Handsome Dan’s was incredibly helpful. All of their recommendations were accurate, especially the tips about food, transportation, and day trips. Port Renfrew is a very small village, and we quickly learned how limited the options are at the local market. We arrived with a car full of groceries, which was a good thing since the food for our three teenagers only lasted a couple of days. We would highly recommend this house to families who appreciate quiet places, enjoy cooking at home, and love exploring the ocean, beaches, lakes, rivers, and old-growth forests. It's also the perfect place for anyone who enjoys fishing.

We stayed to have a little getaway with our parents. Plenty of space with everyone getting their own beds and able to bring our dog along

The property was wonderful - perfect location, well appointed, spacious and with parking and lots of gamesVrbo however was difficult to deal with. The website failed to add our booking and the virtual assistant would not engage. Thankfully the owner was able to confirm with us & reassured us.Check in and out was easy. There is a shop in port Renfrew. It has more food than is suggested and as the only evening option is the Renfrew Pub I would recommend either taking food or taking a chance at the shop. The food at the pub was fairly limited, on the expensive side and not the best we ate on the island. There was over an hr wait for. Table. We went on the night of entertainment which was fun because the locals clearly came out. Botanical bay was awesome - but you need to see it at low tide (get up early if necessary) it’s incredible. Go hunting for tall trees and find the hidden waterfalls. Incredible views and head out fishing to see more wildlife - seals in the harbour. Lovely coffee and breakfast at the coastal cafe. It’s several degrees colder and wetter at port Renfrew than on the east coast - so take walking boots, jumper and raincoat but be prepared to take off layers as it’s humid
