First things first: If you are looking for square corners, and sterile luxury, we recommend you look at other options in Lake City. That said, if your idea of the mountains is to percolate coffee, fry some fish on cast iron, and relax dad-style in an old-school easy chair in front of an honest fire, this is the place for you. If you're thinking about Lake City in the winter, we list this on the other site from NOV-APR. It's a long story :)

Constructed in 1948, this home is full of memories. We kept the soul—you’ll find imperfect floors and history on the walls—but we have upgraded the actual living experience a good deal. We kept the old school character and added a bit of Scandinavian alpine inspiration. The house comes with robust Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speakers, and a Smart TV as well, in case you need to plug in for a minute or two.

You are blocks from Gold Medal fly fishing on the Lake Fork and minutes from Lake San Cristobal for paddle boarding or casting from the shore. Trailheads in town will get you up to 12,000' before you know it, and you're a short drive to the five 14ers.

Downtown's dining, town park and ice cream(!) is one block away. No driving required after a long day on the trail. Enjoy your meal and a leisurely stroll home, or cook dinner in the vintage kitchen.

Sleeping Arrangements

- Main Bedroom: Queen size bed for two.

- The Viking Bunk Room: Handmade Norwegian bunk beds. Kids young and old are going to want to arm wrestle for these.

- The Loft: A cozy double bed for overflow or private sleeping (hint: it's the coziest spot in the cabin).

We arrange an annual ice climbing trip to Lake City every winter and this was our third year. We loved staying at this property. It is right in the middle of town and only a short 15 min walk from the ice park. The place has so much quirky character and we all felt like we were going back in time. Thanks so much for a great stay !

We had a great stay here! The description is accurate...It does have some rough edges, but we found it comfy. We arrived to find a fire already stoked up and plenty of firewood for our stay. The wifi worked great and the water was hot. Beyond that, Svetlana and her husband were great to communicate, responsive and very nice. Highly recommended...As long and you read the description and know that it is a bit rustic.

Our stay was fantastic! This cabin is exactly as listed; it is old-school, simple, and incredibly charming. The best Christmas vacation we have ever taken! The host was amazing, checked on us multiple times, and even offered us cross-country skis if we wanted to try it. On our last night, we were under a winter advisory and received quite a bit of snow and we were not sure we would be able to get out. The host offered us an additional night for free! We cooked all four days of our stay; the kitchen is not fancy, but there are enough supplies that it is adequate and we had no issues. There is a projector so bring a dongle and an HDMI so you can stream from your phone if you want to watch movies on the projector. Fireplace can be a little tricky to get going. When starting the fire I suggest leaving the door open until you get the fire going and build up some heat in the box, then close the door. The beds are comfortable and the linens and blankets are nice and cozy. Not many places are open during winter; we visited an art gallery, a small grocery store, a soda shop with coffee and ice cream (a must-visit, very good!), and the Packers Saloon for some good drinks and great appetizers. Very few cars, most everyone walks around town. Everyone was very friendly, inviting, and helpful. I absolutely fell in love with this town and want to return in the summer to see what it is like during that time of year. Thank you for a memorable Christmas!

We so enjoyed our stay in the is adorable, nostalgic cabin. We loved the old, rustic decor and was so much fun staying here than in a hotel. Having our host, Svetlana across the street was great and she was so helpful and friendly and it was great meeting her.

A step back in time to simpler times. Very cool classic decorations make it really feel like going to grandpas cabin. Beds were nice. Sitting on front porch in the evenings was nice. Tv works with casting from iPad or iPhone. WiFi worked great. Shower is a tad short for 6 ft people but good water pressure and nice hot shower. Cool place in lake City. Very very close walk to the main downtown restaurants and shops. Sits right o. The corner before the businesses start. Second morning a Doe and her two fawn greeted me as I took out the trash.

The cabin was in a terrific location and every bit as vintage as advertised. We had trouble with the front door for our entire stay, which might be something for the host to look into. The decor was charming inside but there were some things that could use some love. A bathroom renovation would go a long way! Overall, this was a good spot to check out lake city. thanks!

We were there three nights and really enjoyed our stay. The only reason for the four stars was that two things could make the property so much more comfortable in the summer. The fans work well but we switched them from winter mode to summer so that they would move air. If there were a screen door on the back then you could have some air movement from the front door to the back door without letting bugs in. The other thing that would really help are some curtains along the west wall of the kitchen/dining area. The sun beating in there really made things heat up .We hung a bed sheet over the windows in the afternoon-made a huge difference. Curtains on that side could also help the refrigerator because the sun was making it run more than it should have. It's a wonderful location and it was comfortable to sit on the front porch and watch people go by. Very convenient to walking downtown to the shops and restaurants .Overall we enjoyed the quirkiness and quaintness of the place. It was very comfortable and we would definitely stay again!

The property owner was ready available if you had any issues. Read the details in full to understand what you are getting. This is a very small town limited restaurant with limited hours (they like cash to avoid the 2% debit/credit fee )so will need to bring much of your own groceries. Everything you need to prepare a meal is there plus some. There are side by side that run the roads legally in this town if your not a fan of those the noice can be an issue. There are not corner store to run small toilets so bring your and don’t forget anything. Host had extra sheet and blankets even in the summer the temps can drop to the 50’s at night.
