Step back in time with nostalgia of Glory Days. Love this cabin. Sweet, simple, and perfect for our anniversary getaway
Quiet and peaceful
Beautiful cabin! Loved the views! Cozy!
Our family loved it hear. It is small and cozy, nice out back, it feels secluded even if you are close to others. We loved playing in the river. We will definitely return. Very clean.
Situated off of a very busy main road, although not too disturbing at night. Very clean, but awkward arrangements of furniture and bathroom setup. Tap water has funny taste, although safe. Would have been nice to have A/C turned on prior to arrival.
We had a lovely time, the cabin was beautiful! Loved sitting on back porch and by the river.
The property is just as listed. It is small which was great for a couple. Close to the river gave easy access for fishing. The two houses nearby were far enough away for quiet outdoor sitting. Road was a little noisy but settled down in evening like any other place. Bathroom is a little tight as the pictures shown so no surprises. Managed to figure out the gas stove and not burn dinner so gold star for me!! Franklin was nice and we strolled the street. Drove to Highlands, saw some waterfalls and hiked in the forest on the way back. Roads were not bad at all, little curvy in spots but attentive driving and all well. Easy drive to Bryson City to catch the train, again little curvy but not bad. Recommend for a quiet couple getaway.
We love this place have been there before and will be back in the fall just the perfect vacation
Host was very courteous, we had a minor problem in the cabin with the smell in the water and she send her son right away and he fixed the problem, will definitely visit again.
My family enjoyed our stay in this very cute cabin located right on the river. Beautiful and very clean. The only thing we misunderstood was the size of the cabin. I understood square footage wise it would be smaller with 1 room open area & loft bedroom. I misunderstood that there was only 1 real bed. The other beds were very thin, twin size on the floor. This may be fine for younger kids, but our teens were pushing it. Other than that we truly enjoyed our experience. We visited Bryson City about 25 minutes away for a fun train ride, fished in Cherokee about 40 minutes away and did some short easy hikes to waterfalls nearby (20-40 minutes away).
A wonderful get away weekend!! Met and exceeded all expectations!
The cabin was clean and quaint. Cozy and serene. It was beautiful. We enjoyed our mini vacation and would definitely like to go back again. Water and Mountain View was beautiful.
I love antiques as it is, when I was looking for a property to spend our anniversary weekend at, I knew I needed a river view for my husband and his fishing pole. We both lucked out, I booked an 1800's log cabin and he got the river and the view. There were amenities we did not partake in that I'm sure are equally as good as the property but this weekend wasn't about plans - it was about relaxing; and boy did we. The peace and quiet at this property along with it's characteristic nostalgia was just what the Dr, ordered, Quaint and cozy with a side of modernization (but no Cell service - and that was OKAY with us). The TV had plenty of channels, the Wi-Fi worked well. All was ready for us when we arrived. The fireplace does it's job perfectly, the porch swing was in great condition. The bed was comfy , a memory foam kind but you didn't sink. We couldn't have been more pleased or more satisfied with the property overall and we thanked the owners for sharing this beautiful time capsule with us. We will be back .
My husband, daughter and I loved the cabin and our stay! The cabin was clean, decorated nice, and had all the supplies we really needed. I enjoyed reading on the swing bench, my family enjoyed fishing and whitewater rafting in area. We cooked out and played games and disconnected from the world for a few days. Just what we needed. Our host accommodated a special request I had which made my trip comforting. Thanks to her for that. Would like to stay in Winter months and experience the beauty of that time of year.
Being able to stay in a cabin from the 1800's is just amazing in it self. The location on the river is just the icing in the cake.
We had a great stay and enjoyed exploring the area. Driving the country roads around Oak Grove is an activity unto itself, a beautiful part of Appalachia. Paddled our kayaks down the Little Tennessee River from Sanderstown Road to the foot of the cabin (about 3 hours) and our host helped us get transportation back to our car. Birds aplenty, bullfrogs croaking, and lots of fireflies outside this little cabin!
We had a wonderful time and cabin was a truly “back in time” experience. Highly recommended.
Great cabin, river was beautiful
The house was very clean and very cute. It was the perfect size for a family with one child. Well supplied linens and kitchen. We enjoyed the backyard so much with the fire pit and the chairs - all riverside. We stayed here while enjoying the the Nantahala Outdoor Center. It was about a 25 minute drive, and although there were places available that were closer - this was worth the extra distance for the view / river access and outdoor space. We were very happy overall!
The cabin was awesome. The view of the river was simply gorgeous! It was perfect for a little weekend getaway. Loved it!!
I wish we had found this earlier in our trip. We hope to return when it is warmer and can make better use of the river.
