Cradled between the Continental Divide and the Whitefish Mountain Range just one mile from the northwest entrance to Glacier National Park is the electricity-free community of Polebridge. Made up of a handful of houses, cabins, a hostel and small ranches along the North Fork Road, the hub of this area is the historic Polebridge Mercantile and its neighboring Northern Lights Saloon—both powered by generators and solar panels (seasonal hours). The Merc is a one stop shop for locals and visitors alike and is famous throughout the state and region for its freshly baked goods, sandwiches and authentic personality. Just a stone's throw from the Wild & Scenic North Fork Flathead River you'll find our quaint Cutthroat Cabin is the ideal location for those looking to get away from it all or a launching point for your next Glacier National Park adventure. Here you'll find access to unlimited outdoor recreation from fly fishing to hiking to wildlife viewing and more, all the while enjoying the amazing views of the surrounding Northern and Canadian Rockies. The Cutthroat Cabin, named for NW Montana's native westslope cutthroat trout, is rustic, clean and comfortable with propane lights, oven and range, a hand-pump well in the kitchen and an antique wood burning stove. The bathroom is an outhouse. There is no electricity, the cabin is lit by propane wall sconces and portable propane and battery powered lanterns. There is no cell service or internet access. There is a public computer at the Mercantile and Wi-Fi available at nearby Home Ranch Bottoms. Quite possibly the cutest little outhouse in Polebridge too!

Best sleep of my life and amazing location. If you are wanting an off the grid experience, this is everything you could ever want. Loved reading on the porch watching the birds and the family of deer eating berries 20 feet away. Flat bottoms has the best smash burger I’ve ever had and getting a gate reservation to the west glacier gate was a piece of cake. Owners were communicative and it was just a great experience across the board.

Would have been nice if the grass would have been mowed off the front porch and around picnic table instead of being waist high everywhere. Lighting was limited and all of the solar light battery’s we’re dead. We were able to find new ones in a cabinet. Paint is peeling off all the exterior trim boards. Only half the gas grill works. Grill cleaning brush was found behind grill in the dirt half melted. Sink is a single sink. Well pump has to be primed every time for use and make a mess every time it is used water goes everywhere and cabin where well pump is looked water logged. While the main walking area was swept clean the corners of the floor were dirty with mouse poop. Mouse poop was also seen under sink where you get the water to prime well pump and also where the pots and pans are. Corners of walls and windows had cobwebs. No windows open in dining area or kitchen. A screen door would be nice. Hand towels hanging in kitchen were musty and stunk I’m glad there were paper towels. Outhouse was nice and not bad. Overall the cabin was a dry place to cook a meal and sleep. We also used our own bedding. Not sure how often someone goes there to check on things. Could use some improvement but everything functions in a rustic way.

Cute and thoughtful add ons throughout the property. Clean homestead. Close to Glacier National Park and many fishing holes. Wonderful place to spend time off the grid.

Great place away from it all. It was clean and the host had everything you need from bug spray to bear spray to water to get the pump going. No mysteries or trouble shooting. It was great. No cell coverage is crazy at first. Then you get used to it and love it. Polebridge folks are nice and the vibe is very fun!!

John and Stacy’s Cutthroat Cabin was an ideal home away from home for us and our group of friends. The North Fork is a vast and beautiful part of the country. Be aware that Pole Bridge is an off grid town, with no cell service, and the cabin didn’t have internet or any charging stations, so you’ll have to rely on a car or the saloon for those things.

Loved the seclusion of this sweet little cabin, with easy access to all the North Fork offers. Highly recommend. Would stay sgain given the opportunity. Don’t miss live music at Hkme Ranch Bottoms and a meal at Northern Lights Saloon. One day just got pizza at the merc to eat at the cabin. Had a wonderful time exploring with our Jeeps and kayaking the mountain lakes.

We enjoyed our stay at Polebridge which hosted a saloon, mercantile, playground and a number of small homesteads. The store offered homemade baked goods with basic supplies and served as a fun destination for our kids.*get a deal if you buy a dozen cookiesThe saloon had great drinks and free access to water through the day. With walkie talkies in hand (and 10) I was able to let my kids go for the day to enjoy a tech free independent experience. The location was 2 miles from upper west glacier with access via gravel road to two lakes. We were able to take north fork road to camas road to access the main areas of west glacier. (These areas are typically connected within the park but this summer part of the road was closed). Our hosts were extremely communicative and helpful. They were quick to reply and went out of their way to support us whenever they could.

Comfy, cute, and authentically rustic place. Grounds were gorgeous and recently mowed. Awesome fire pit with plenty of wood.

Our family had the most incredible stay at this cozy off-grid cabin in Polebridge. It was the perfect peaceful retreat to truly disconnect from the busy world and reconnect with each other and nature. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and charming—just what we needed. Mornings were spent walking to the nearby Polebridge Mercantile for fresh coffee and baked goods while the kids played on the local playground. It felt like stepping back in time in the best way possible. We used the cabin as our home base while exploring Glacier National Park. We spent our days paddleboarding on Lake McDonald, visiting waterfalls, strolling through Apgar Village, and driving part of Going-to-the-Sun Road up to Logan Pass. The views were absolutely breathtaking. Each night, it was such a comfort to return to our quiet, cozy cabin and enjoy quality family time without distractions. This place offered exactly the kind of rest and reconnection we were hoping for. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful second stay at the Cutthroat Cabin. We love getting away enjoying one another in a cozy cabin. We have three teenage boys and it is so nice to be together to take walks to get treats at the Merc, hike, play games, sit by the campfire and even some volleyball at the Marc without the everyday distractions. Cabin is just as presented in the description and what you would expect for off grid! Thanks again!
