About Granite Point

Granite Point is a remote haven located on Resurrection Bay, just 12 miles from Seward, Alaska. Accessible only by boat or helicopter, the property features four private cabins and one larger lodge, all perched on a dramatic cliffside. This unique location offers unparalleled views of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains.

For adventurers, Granite Point is a dream come true. Enjoy direct access toour private beach, hiking trails, and complimentary use of paddleboards and kayaks. Steps from your door, find world-class paddling—explore alongside humpback whales, sea lions, and porpoises while birdwatching, fishing, or simply soaking in the magic of the fjords.

Please note, this is a remote setting. To reach your cabin, guests will ascend four steep staircases and traverse a short 30-yard trail. As such, travelers should be self-reliant, in good physical condition, and prepared for a bit of adventure. We recommend backpack-style packing, as suitcases can be difficult to manage on the stairs. Be sure to bring gear suited to your activities, including sturdy hiking boots, full rain gear, and warm synthetic layers. Additionally, guests should plan to bring their own food and ice for coolers. The bathrooms provided are outhouses or composting toilets.

About Fox Den Cabin

Fox Den Cabin is perched atop a 150-foot cliff, offering panoramic views that are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Constructed with solid cedar timbers, this exceptional cabin features a 10 x 12 partially covered cedar sun deck, the perfect spot to relax and take in the view. Watch whales glide by as you unwind and soak in the wild Alaska experience.

Inside, you’ll find a queen bed and full futon bed, and a well-appointed kitchenette, complete with a two-burner propane cooktop, oven, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and a French press for your morning coffee. A cozy dining area with tables and stools allows you to enjoy your meals while gazing out over the Bay.
The cabin uses a rainwater catchment system to bring water to the kitchen sink.

Lighting is provided by energy-efficient, battery-operated LED lamps—no electricity, just the peace and quiet of nature. For warmth on chilly nights, a direct-vent propane heater keeps the cabin toasty.

Fox Den Cabin also includes a private fire ring just outside, perfect for toasting marshmallows and savoring Alaska’s long summer nights. All you need to bring is yourself and your provisions, and you’ll be ready to start your unforgettable Alaskan adventure!
No smoking inside of the cabin

Beautiful views and easy to check in and very clean! Only thing to improve, path to outhouse was a little slick with all the rain. Will definitely be back if in Alaska again!

This is an amazing property for a once in a lifetime experience. Jeff is very responsive and usually on site. My husband and I stayed 3 days to end our Alaska vacation. It was a perfect out of the box experience. We saw plenty of wildlife and the view is amazing. You have your own private fishing shore for catching plenty of salmon.

Beautiful spot especially with the clear sunny weather. Only suggestion would be to clear paths to outhouse better as ours was quite overgrown (We stayed at the Fox Den). Enjoyed Levi. Very nice and helpful.

This was one of the highlights of our entire trip and one my favorite places that we have ever stayed. The cabin was great....beds were comfortable and the view is absolutely amazing. We had our children with us (8 and 4) and they had a great time. Spent hours looking for star fish and sea glass. It was rainy and windy so we didn't have a chance to kayak, but would love to do it when we go back. Pack light.....lots of steep stairs, but not bad provided you are in shape. Can't wait to go back!!

Stunning view of Resurrection Bay. Very strenuous climb to cabin so only pack what’s needed. Very overgrown path to outhouse. Beautiful beach area with kayaks. Wished the weather was nicer…

This is a really interesting place to stay! The beach has a ton of sea glass that washes up, and in low tide you can climb on the rocks to see tide pools. The hike is challenging and satisfying. Make sure to make arrangements with the water taxi and to get all the food and water you will need.

We stayed 3 nights at the Fox den with our family during a 2 week road trip. This was hands down our favorite place! We saw whales, porpoises, seals, puffins, star fish galore! Our kids favorite activity was fishing and looking for sea glass along the beach. Levi and Jeff are absolutely awesome people who run the whole operation. It blows my mind how they created this tranquil resort in the Alaskan wilderness!!!!

Our stay at the Fox Den remote cabin on Resurrection Bay was nothing short of amazing. The property manager, Levi, was fantastic and incredibly helpful, truly making our experience exceptional. The wildlife was abundant, with sightings of eagles, hummingbirds, sea lions, and otters adding to the natural charm. The property itself was impeccably clean, and the hiking trails felt like wandering through an enchanted forest, complete with well-marked paths. The beach was breathtaking, featuring a stream, sea stars, and stunning views of the ocean and mountains. Our sea kayaking adventure, guided by Levi's expertise, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Communication was superb from pre-booking to the end, and we feel like we've made a new friend in Levi. We also enjoyed watching Jeff on Building Alaska. Relaxing by the fire pit made for delightful evenings, and the cabin was cozy and spotless. I highly recommend this property for a unique and unforgettable stay, just a short Seward water taxi ride away.

The cabin is lovely, very clean and well maintained. All as described. However, you should be prepared for a few things! Boat drop off is a little hairy - if waves are high the water taxi will drop you very quickly (grab your stuff and run off the boat!) or may even decline to drop you on the little beach. This sounds like it's more of an issue at the end of August/early Sept shoulder season. The hike is very steep. Bring a hiking backpack not a suitcase! If there is any chance of rain, be prepared to do this steep staircase and trails with all your stuff/drinking water in the mud! My only other qualification is the cookwear could use a refresh. If you are prepared for the above and are a fairly fit and hearty soul, you'll do fine. Once you're in the cabin it is comfortable, well designed, and has an absolutely beautiful view. Beds are comfortable and there is an assortment of condiments etc shared from previous stays. The hike up to the ridge is lovely and also leads to majestic views. I would recommend - just be prepared!

This is a magical spot. Once-in-a-lifetime beautiful. We loved the sea kayaking and all the wildlife we could see on the water—otters, puffin, Salmon, bald eagles. Other guests saw orcas. We picked up halibut and salmon at J. Dock in town to cook for dinner as well as other essentials at grocery—eggs, pasta, potatoes, coffee. Easy, comfortable camping. Slept well. No mosquitoes. Really special! Recommend traveling light to get up cliff staircase. Fox Den cabin had plenty of water in rainwater barrel, but also glad we brought our own (filled at Kenai Fjords visitor center). Highly recommend! Our young adult sons loved it!
