We loved that there was a culligan water for drinking being that the water was very hard water! We would have went through our bottles very quickly. The cabin was not very clean, ceiling in porch area leaked water and only heat sources were electric fireplace and 2 space heaters. The space heaters were extremely loud and blew the fuse in most outlets we tried to plug them into. The cabin was quite cold and drafty. However had a beautiful view of lake Sallie. Not very kid friendly, stairs lead straight into water with dock being out (understandable for time of year) but not much yard, people drive very fast on the street and the neighbors have signs facing the cabin saying dog will bite and no trespassing. Which all understandable but stressful for those with young kids.

We enjoyed our time at Paul’s cabin. Access to both lakes was a pleasant surprise — easy to get to both. Lake Sallie was lovely for floating.Host was VERY quick to respond to our messages (usually within an hour during the day) if we had any issues.I highly recommend this cabin and host if you’re looking for a getaway from the city.

The property is indeed located between two lakes with dock usage on both lakes. Host communicated quickly and allowed some flexibility. Accessing the property & use of it was easy. Appliances were relatively new & well kept. Added bonus was a small refrigerator next to full size refrigerator/freezer which allowed for more space for cold drinks. We stayed 5 nights. Weather wasn’t great a couple of days while we were there but no one controls that! We enjoyed playing cards & Minnesota-poorly which were all provided by the host. Not great was the cleanliness; while beds seemed clean one of the futon covers had holes in it. There were not linens to put on the futons. Could use couple more blankets. On the cold nights it was cold. (at night we did not use the fireplace but did use it to take the chill out the morning it was in the 50’s-it worked well!) There was one window unit a/c located in the corner bedroom which did not cool the cabin in the day it was 85 degrees & the day it was 72 had it not cooled off outside (down to 60ish) at night it would’ve remained hot that night also. Convenient to have propane grill provided but rusted. Rugs had been vacuumed but the couple of ledges (used to set things on) & floor had not been dusted or cleaned for at least several weeks. It should also be noted that it is not “city” water; it’s either a well or more likely pumped lake water for use in the kitchen & bathroom. Host did have several Culligan water jugs available for drinking!

Lake views were beautiful. Thought was put into stocking the property. Door is difficult to use. Cabin is very rough with mixed wood scraps for the wallls and ceilings. Floors are uneven. Paint is marred, wallpaper or whatever is on the walls is peeling. The one super positive thing was the main bed. It was very comfortable! The area is very tranquil and quiet. The cabin definitely could have been cleaner. peaquiet. I woul not pay the nightly rate again.

Two of us stayed at this cozy cabin while exploring the Detroit Lakes area, specifically searching for the DL Trolls (project 412). The cabin is a traditional “old school” kind of place. Small rooms but fine for two people. The screened porch and deck overlooking the lake were the highlights. There could be a few more glassware options and there are no closets to hang clothes. But overall it was the kind of “little cabin on the lake” experience we were looking for.

This cabin is perfect for a small family to enjoy. We enjoyed having two lakes to enjoy and the dock for our boat. We caught lots of fish and Sallie also! The two futons are great for extra sleeping. The cabin was super close to all sorts of activities including the Detroit lake beach, plenty of restraunts and shady hollow flea market. Would definitely rent again!

Clean and cozy cabin with awesome three-season porch. Stocked with everything you need...just bring food and clothes. Enjoy a meal of fish you catch. Boat launch close by and lake water is exceptionally clear. Can't beat views of two lakes from the deck. Plenty of parking space.
