LOCAL ADD-ON EXPERIENCES

From sound baths and in-home massages to stargazing under some of the darkest skies in Southern California, we've handpicked local vendors to match whatever mood you're in. Book a personal chef for a lazy night in, saddle up for a horseback ride, or take a guided hike through the National Park or other local trails. However you want to spend your time here, relaxing or adventuring, the desert (and our favorite locals) has you covered. Once your reservation is confirmed, let us know you are interested and we will connect you!

Guest Access:

The property and house is yours to roam and relax.

Getting Around:

We recommend traveling by car to explore Joshua Tree for maximum flexibility, as ride sharing services are unreliable. If you prefer not to drive, the local taxi service Lucky 777 is a dependable option. Our property offers free parking for up to four vehicles to ensure your car is kept secure during your stay.

Other Things to Note:

3:00PM Check-In: We'd love for you to check in before 8pm so you have plenty of daylight to settle in and get comfortable before dark.

Heating & Cooling: There is a mini-split unit in the living area for heating and cooling. There is an additional wall AC unit in the Queen bedroom for cooling during summer months.

Fireplace: The fireplace can NOT be used at this time.

Privacy: Please note that the cabin does not have bedroom doors, the doors are a thick linen material that can be closed for privacy but they are not a solid barrier between the bedrooms and the living room.

Dirt Roads: The cabin is located about 5 miles down dirt roads, please drive with caution and arrive before nightfall when possible. We strongly recommend a high clearance and/or AWD vehicle.

Property: The house sits on a shared 10 acre lot. You probably won’t see anyone while you’re there and the amenities are not shared but you may see people walking to and from their car to the cabin as they’re continuing on with their day.

Pets Allowed: We welcome dogs for a fee of $30 per dog, with a maximum of 2 dogs per stay. Please note that no other pets are permitted at this property.

Wifi: Desert wifi can be super spotty and can go in and out. We have the best service for our rural area but people needing full time high speed might not find those needs met here. Not suitable to work from home from this location.

Guest Policy: We only allow the number of guests listed as the maximum occupancy for this property, so any additional day guests must be requested and approved in advance. No extra overnight guests are permitted beyond those included in your reservation.

Watch your Step: This desert land holds onto bits of its past, so you may spot the occasional rusty object or piece of glass in the yard, please wear shoes anytime you're outside. You'll also be sharing the landscape with local snakes and scorpions. They want nothing to do with you, so if you see one, just back away calmly and quietly

Wood Burning Fires: We do not permit wood-burning fires anywhere on the property at any time, including in fire pits or fireplaces, due to the high risk of wildfire in our area. This policy is strictly enforced for the safety of our guests, neighbors, and the surrounding landscape,.

Desert Critters: Please keep doors closed while entering and exiting, curious critters will let themselves in given the chance. Desert wildlife is part of what makes this area special, expect sightings of jackrabbits, tortoises, roadrunners, quail, and lizards. You may also spot coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, or occasionally a bobcat or mountain lion. Most just want their space, so it's best to give them yours.

Camera/ Decible Monitor: This property has forward-facing exterior security cameras, but there are no cameras anywhere inside the home. We also use noise decibel monitors indoors to help avoid disturbing neighbors. These only measure sound levels and never record audio.

Interaction with Guests:

We like to respect our guest’s privacy, so you won’t see too much of us. We will be available to answer any questions and to make your stay more enjoyable.

This review is for 5/2/26 - 5/4/26. Stayed here a couple nights to catch a show at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown about 30 mins away. First off great communication with the owners & management, very helpful and welcoming. The property itself has so much character and charm. We absolutely loved it. It is a little dim with lightning but not bad. Such a great stay for the price. There are field mice that try to sneak in so just a heads up. Tiny cute little rascals, I was able to catch one and let it out. They do have mousetraps just in case. This was only because the previous guests left the sliding door open. The dirt road to get there isn’t too bad, but pay attention or you can get lost. There is an art installation nearby as well. You have a neighbor to your right then it’s open desert. Not too far from town and away enough to get some peace. We highly recommend it! Thanks again

Liked the views, landscape, cleanliness, isolation. The only thing is we needed plates and couldn't find them.

My husband and I loved the Cabin Under the Stars! It was very quaint, clean, provided great views, and offered all the amenities we were looking for while spending our honeymoon hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. The only thing I would say is the house is on a large property on several acres, but we didn’t realize that there was another home within yards of this property. We had the impression from the listing description and pictures that it was completely private, but you do share the lot with another home and possibly others vacationers. There is a small fence and a tiny wall that gives you some privacy from the other house, but we were expecting to be all alone when reserving this house. Luckily the guests staying in the other house were very quiet, but from experience, that’s not always the case. So if you’re looking for complete privacy, keep that in mind when renting this cottage because you never know what type of neighbors you will get. Also, the WiFi didn’t work most of our trip. The signal strength was very low so we couldn’t check our email or use the internet on our devices, but it didn’t matter too greatly as we were mainly there to unwind, relax, and enjoy the beautiful desert scenery. Considering everything above, we would definitely stay in this home again!

overall it was very nice. the place is run down but it has it's charm. we were surprised that there were no recycling bins. the other part was we didn't know there was a property connected to ours. was fine with the first tenants, not so much with the second ones who started cranking their music at 10:00 am. kinda ruined the vibe for being out in the desert enjoying nature. overall it's an amazing spot. it's probably seen better days, would benefit from someone renovating it with updates.

Wonderful location, hot tub, views and more. WiFi was weak, no booster to get the main house connection. Its all about the gorgeous views and property and we’d return.

Beautiful well kept home and garden located far enough from civilization for an escape but close enough for easy access to town.

We loved the location, close to town and the park. But far enough out that we could stargaze and enjoy the desert night. Very cute little cabin that had everything we needed. It was clean and well managed, the goat was communicative as needed.

My fiancée and I stayed at the Cabin Under the Stars for 10 nights. The Cabin was awesome. Plenty of extras that we didn't expect. Hot Tub was lovely and well maintained. Also Cleaned every Tuesday. Very little light pollution, so if star gazing is your thing, you'll love it.. The AC kept us nice and cool in 40 plus degree temperatures.Beds were comfortable and linen was clean. My fiancée saw a mountain lion in the distance. Didn't see any snakes or spiders. But do bring bug spray for the flys. (No other bugs really) We will definitely be returning to Cabin Under the Stars on our next USA trip..
