The Space:
Guests drive through a quiet neighborhood to find a 2-story log cabin on a clearing. The Base Camp has private parking for up to 4 vehicles on gravel, and one parking space for trailers or recreational vehicles next to the home.
As in base camps all over the world, guests are encouraged to remove their footwear before entering so they can immediately unwind in a beautiful shelter, where all members of the expedition party can relax in their own personal way.
Each room has a distinguishing theme. The first floor opens to a living room, a Base Camp common area, furnished with wide and comfortable couches, and a high-definition smart TV for your streaming pleasure. Free Wi-Fi is included. Guests can also listen to their personal playlists by connecting to our Bluetooth-enabled soundbar.
The dining room reminds us of water activities around the lake, complete with canoe decor. The kitchen, or galley, is fully stocked with cookware for your culinary pleasure. The downstairs hallway and bathroom reminisce explorers of magnificent waterfalls. A washer and dryer combo complement the amenities.
The downstairs bedroom, the Patagonia Room (1 Queen bed), highlights the sights of the epic Circuit Trail at Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. On the second floor, the loft is your activity and outlook center, complete with a daybed/trundle combo (2 Twin beds), the camp’s library, games, and highlights of our adventures. It is the perfect place to admire the view through extra-wide windows from a cozy recliner.
If your expedition guide needs to access the outside world online or enjoy breakfast or a warm beverage, a dedicated bistro/work table is provided. Finally, the upstairs master bedroom, or Machu Picchu Room (1 Queen bed), with vaulted ceiling and wide windows, caps your outfitter’s bucket list. But adventure awaits outdoors.
The cabin has a wraparound deck, perfect to admire the woods or to enjoy invigorating drinks under the patio lights after a long day of recreation at Lake Lure or Chimney Rock. The Base Camp has its own private 1/10 mile Easy hiking trail within our 1.8 acres of wooded land. It is the perfect place to warm up or cool down aching muscles. Just follow the white trail blazes.

This homey cabin in the woods was perfect for our trip to the Lake Lure area. With spacious bedrooms and a nice kitchen we were ready to explore the area. This cabin is very comfortable. There is a loft area that would be good for children. This cabin is a great value.
Cabin was clean and comfortable! Neighborhood was quiet, and there was a great little park with small playground just a short walk away. For just us and our two daughters, this place was perfect!
property was Great ! It was better than description, my wife & I & Brother & Sister in laws really enjoyed our stay of 5 Nights, the WIFI definitely comes in handy as the area does have terribly bad cell & internet connections. The coded gate is nice as we felt very secure & safe !The beautiful scenery was a plus as trees were starting to turn into the fall colors . Would highly Recommend this Property to any one coming to the Marion N.C. area !
The location was perfect and it gave a safe but secluded feeling. It was so nice and clean. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed. The grill had a full tank and we easy to use. The deck is beautiful and the pond around the back was lovely. We were sad our stay was only 2 night and would have stayed for a week comfortably. I travelled with my sister in law and our kids, we felt safe the entire time. It was not far from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock which are deficiently places you must visit. CAn not wait to go back.
Everything was great, good experience all around.
We loved staying at The Base Camp, it had everything we needed for our getaway. The scenery was beautiful and the amenities and the cabin were so clean and nice!
