The neighborhood is peaceful and walkable, with roads weaving through the forest and toward the river. When you’re ready to explore further, downtown Guerneville is just five minutes away - offering everything from cozy cafés and wine bars to oyster tastings, antique stores, and stylish restaurants featured in Travel + Leisure. Minutes beyond, discover Armstrong Woods State Park, where you can walk among some of the world’s tallest and oldest redwoods. Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Artist’s Perch is 4 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times. This is a quiet residential neighborhood. Please drive slowly and help us maintain good neighbor relations.

A Note About Our Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you support local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles along the fence at the street level. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. There is no additional street parking. Please be careful to pull vehicles fully off the road to allow room for everyday traffic and emergency vehicles.

Bed Sizes: Primary bedroom (upstairs): Queen bed; Second bedroom (downstairs): King bed.

Heating: This home uses a Nest thermostat for the central heating system in addition to a woodstove in the living room. Firewood and kindling are not provided, but you may use any left at the property. Electric, wall mounted convection Eco-heaters supplement your cozy in the bedrooms and living room.

Cooling: There are 2 portable A/C units set up for guests during warmer weather, typically May 1st to October 15th. And windows have screens.

Kitchen: There is a dishwasher. The kitchen is fully stocked (minus groceries) for your stay. Enjoy an Instapot, Dutch ovens, and other extras in the kitchen.

Bathrooms: Upstairs bathroom: shower over bathtub; downstairs bathroom: shower.

Location: Artist’s Perch is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park only along the fence and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!

Rural Setting and Critters: We live in a rural area with ants, spiders, rodents, and larger critters from raccoons and mountain lions to bears. While we make the best effort to protect against them from coming into homes, we also do not use poison where it can harm wildlife, pets, and children. And keeping all critters out is simply not possible. We appreciate your help in putting tasty smelling items into refrigerators, proper disposal of trash, and understanding that ants (especially) come in without warning and may not have been present at the time of cleaning.

Cell Phones: Please be aware that many cell phones will not have service at this location. There is WiFi and a house phone.

Road to Artist’s Perch: The house is located up a narrow one-lane road. It is a two-way, one-lane curvy hillside road - fully paved and no special vehicle is required. We provide detailed written driving directions to confirmed guests.

Stairs: There are several sets of stairs at the house: one from the main driveway to the front door with approximately 50 steps. Once inside the house there is one flight of stairs from the main level of the house to the lower level. Please review the floorplan and photos for additional details.

Pet Friendly: This home welcomes up to 2 well-mannered dogs. If you have more than 2 dogs or other types of pets, please contact us to see if exceptions can be made before reserving.

Fencing: The yard is fenced for a mild-mannered, medium to large dog. This may not be enough to keep an exuberant or small dog in the yard. We recommend checking the fence before letting your dog off-leash.

Security Cameras: For the safety of guests and the home, there are 3 security cameras outside - facing the parking area, stairs to the home, and front door.

Work from HERE: Artist's Perch has two workspaces - one on each level - and a top-of-the-line wifi router capable of supporting multiple devices, including multiple zoom video sessions simultaneously. The house has two separate routers for excellent coverage throughout the house and as backup. One workstation includes a motorized sit/stand desk with 34 in curved, widescreen monitor.
Advertised Wifi Speed: Gigabit - consistently 500 mbps

A Note about the TVs and Entertainment: The Smart TVs in the living room and upstairs bedroom are setup with Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, and hundreds of streaming channels. Guests are welcome to bring their login info for these apps and other apps. Televisions do not have cable services. The living room TV is connected to a Bose surround sound home theater system. There is an Xbox in Queen bedroom. Alexa devices throughout the home connect to smart controls for lights and allow the music to flow.

Additional Amenities:
Sauna – A boutique brand, not well known in the US, this Slovenian cedar sauna is unique to Artist’s Perch as very few have been imported to the area. Please follow the safety guidelines.

Baby/Kid-Specific Items: A highchair and pack n play are provided.

Lower Suite: The second suite is downstairs and has a great sense of privacy, but there is not a door at the stairs. Curtains add a visual barrier.

Repeat Guests: You’ll love the major update completed in Fall of 2025 and the freshly reimagined home! From the ground up: every room, surface, and detail is designed to create a refined redwood retreat.

Driving Distances:
Proximity to wineries: The closest wine tasting rooms are in downtown Guerneville - approx. 1 mile.
Nearest River Beach: The nearest river access/beach is a neighborhood beach 0.5 mi from the house - though the beach is variable. Johnson's Beach is close (1.3 mi) - an all-around fabulous place to enjoy the river, rent boats, inner tubes, beach umbrellas, and grab a beer and bite to eat - when they are open for summer. Otherwise, you can wander the beach, but the boats and concession stand will not be available. Dogs are not allowed at Johnson's Beach when they are open for the season.
Nearest Ocean Beach: There are many ocean beaches along the Sonoma coast, but one of the closest is Goat Rock State Beach just south of Jenner - 13miles from the house. One of the beaches at Goat Rock is dog friendly.
Distance to Downtown Guerneville: The downtown Guerneville Safeway is 1.1 mi.
River Electric Swim Club: 1.9 mi.
Northwood Golf Course: 4.2 mi.
