WOW, what a top of the ridge view! Hemlock Point is an Appalachian Log Homes cabin built in the vernacular of the historic style. Square logs reminiscent of the Scotch Irish settlers in the 1700's make you feel as if you have stepped back to an earlier time. Large hemlocks, abundant on this property give Hemlock Point cabin its name. Furnished with antiques, a claw foot bathtub, a modern spa hot tub on the deck, natural materials, comfortable furniture, quilts, a soapstone fireplace (albeit gas logs), a real wood fireplace on the outside deck, a gun on the mantle, a variety of varmints hung on the wall (bought at auction)... collections to create an atmosphere of make believe. You are a now in the role of mountain settler, cozy up to the fire and set a spell.
The mountain ridge views from this log home are phenomenal. The breezes of refreshing mountain air are exhilarating. Looking out over 7 to 9 ridges (depends on the day) you can imagine how it looked to 'first nations' peoples and early settlers seeing it for the first time. Daniel Boone traversed these mountain ranges, living just few miles away on the Yadkin River. You certainly will believe that God was at work in building all the mountain's glory. Most of our guests have commented on God's blessings for this space, this mountain, this respite in their lives. Leatherwood Mountains subdivision, a 4000 acre gated community in southwestern Wilkes County, NC, is well known in the horse world for its extensive horse trail system, some of the most rugged in the eastern United States. The 50 miles of trails within the subdivision are perfect for hikers as well as horsemen. The views, the trails, the nature, the glory will abide here for all time.
Hemlock Point Cabin is handicapped 'friendly'. It has a wheelchair ramp, wide doorways on the first level, shower and toilet bars...while not meeting every requirement for your family member that is handicapped, we have made it accessible. Make sure you include ALL of your family on your vacation.
Sitting on the top of a ridge, Hemlock Point cabin's views toward the western mountain ranges encompass up to 7 distant ridges. Hemlock Point cabin is located in private wilderness Leatherwood Mountains subdivision. Being in the wilderness does not mean that one should be without modern comforts. The cabin features WiFi with Streaming Roku television with Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions; a well stocked kitchen for your self catering convenience includes both drip and Keurig style coffee makers. Your vacation can either be a 'staycation' and enjoy Leatherwood Mountains swimming pool, tennis courts, horseback riding and hiking trails, zip line, restaurant, and mountain fishing streams...OR take day trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Yadkin Valley Wineries, Linville Caverns, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Foggy Mountain Gem Mining, and a variety of other activities. Upon check in, we were expecting to use the gas fireplace and relax with friends on a long awaited vacation. We further inspected the gas fireplace and gas tank to discover the tank was empty. So the entire stay (cool weather mind you) we couldn't use the fireplace. We were told by the owners basically nothing could be done. The cleaning crew could have done a better job before our stay. Lots of dirty windows and hand prints on glass doors. We didn't use the hot tub the first night and we're glad we didn't. It was dirty with leaves and debris floating around. The cabin was rustic and authentic. The area was beautiful. We would suggest however looking at some of the door knobs for problems. The furniture was a little dated and uncomfortable. We will not stay here again.
We have staying in Leatherwood. This house had really nice porch areas and great views!
The cabin was nice, but the hotub needed a new filter. There was debris after we turned the bubbles on and no chlorine in the water. Overall we loved the cabin, they have everything you need there. We had trouble getting in the gate, we were only sent a door code and couldnt get back on the site to contact the property manager. There is no cell service here, eventually we able to use wifi... beautiful place, beautiful view, nice quiet getaway... we will be back!!
If your coming to Boon or Wilkesboro to relax this is the place to stay. A very well-stocked cabin, and a great place to get away from it all. We came up for Merlfest and this was a perfect retreat from festival life. The views were breathtaking and you might even get a peek of a ton of stars at night. Can't wait to come back on our next adventure to the area.
I have been burning the candle at both ends lately and just needed a quick weekend getaway to the mountains. Although the home was older, it was clean. The area was remote which is what I was looking for. The views were as advertised and perfect for recharging the battery. The wifi worked perfectly which was good since I didn't have cell service. Make sure you check your messages before you leave to get the gate code. I didn't do this, and the lack of cell service made getting to the property problematic. Also, I'm glad I stopped by the grocery to pick up some essentials before I left. There really weren't any stores or restaurants close by. That was okay with me, though. The peace, beauty, and tranquility of the property made it a perfect weekend.
The view was not as advertised. There was a nice mountain view from one window, not all the windows as the ad says. The refrigerator had food left in it and the kitchen counters had not been wiped down. Screens on the porch are torn, decking is very worn. The house is very noisy, you can hear all sounds from one bedroom to the other. Very nice neighborhood. We only stayed 3 nights (supposed to be a week). The owner gave us a minimal refund, not the same amount we had paid, even after several discussions regarding access (instructions were wrong), cleanliness and lack of view. The write up is very misleading. We drove many hours to get there and were quite disappointed. Would NOT recommend this house!
We come here at least once a year. We enjoy the cabin. I would only make one suggestion. Please replace upstairs bath doorknob as it is broken every time we come.
Beautiful home with Mountain views. Felt like home.
Hemlock Point is well stocked with everything a person could need. It is clean and comfy. The community is quiet and the views are spectacular. My only critique would be the need for a new couch in the main living area. Aside from that, it's perfect for a mountain retreat!
Thank you for your hospitality! Staying at Hemlock Point was perfect for our entire family. The location on top of the mountain was beautiful from all sides, the deck and outdoor fireplace were enjoyed more than any room in the house, horseback riding was an adventure, and everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. We can’t wait to go back again! Thank you!
Amazing property in a beautiful secluded area of North Carolina mountains with amazing views!!!
The cabin was amazing. I took my handicap Father and Mother. The views were so incredible. I highly recommend the cozy little cabin for a small family. The kitchen could use a few pots and pans with lids.
My husband was gonna bring my 11 yr old daughter gem mining for her birthday but sadly he passed away in January so we mad a weekend of it absolutely love the property beautiful scenic view we had a great time
Our family truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin home! It is located in a beautiful neighborhood, the Mountain View from the back deck is stunning, and the restaurant located a mile down the mountain is delicious! Highly recommend this home to all!
Everything was just as advertised. My wife and I wanted to just get away and relax . The property was what we expected and more. Thank you!
Since we exist in a big city, this charming home was a special retreat.
One of the BEST cabins ? we have stayed in. Gorgeous views of the mountains after a relaxing day fishing and walking. Wonderful hotub and beautiful decor inside. Hosts are A+ and so helpful and caring to make your stay awesome. Highly recommend. 5 ?
Spacious, well appointed cabin in an ideal location. We especially enjoyed the balcony and playing pickleball at tennis center.
