Summary:

Adeline cabin is a Scandinavian-inspired modern cabin located on the edge of one of Mazama’s iconic meadows. Designed for indoor-outdoor living the home has a sauna, and screen porch accessible from the main living space. The main bedroom with a queen bed, and the bathroom are on the ground floor. The loft space has another queen bed and a reading nook. Including the fold-out couch in the living room, the cabin can sleep four. This is a great location on the ski trails and with fantastic views.

The Space:

The cabin has a compact and very functional floor plan. The main living space features a modern cast-iron stove (propane fuel), birch plywood walls and exposed beams, and is furnished with a fold-out couch, easy chair and dining table with benches. The kitchen area includes a breakfast bar with three stools. A door opens onto the front patio, and large glass paned garage doors can be opened up to access the screen porch for summertime dining. Also downstairs is the main bedroom with a queen bed, bathroom with shower, and laundry closet. The bathroom is designed to allow separate use of the shower and toilet, and the shower has its own door to the outside. Upstairs is the loft with another queen bed, reading nook and TV corner. The sauna is accessed from the back porch. A propane BBQ and space heater are provided on the front patio. The home is thoughtfully designed to create indoor-outdoor connections for all seasons.

The Neighborhood:

MAZAMA

Adeline is located right by the winter time Flagg Mountain Loop XC ski trail. It's a short ski or bike into Mazama and the Methow Trails trailhead (for great hiking, mountain biking and cross-country ski trail options). In addition to the store with its great bakery and grocery, Mazama is home to the Goat’s Beard outdoor store (with mountain bike and fat bike rentals) and the Mazama Ski School for cross country ski hire and lessons. The Mazama Public House is set to open summer 2022. Please see our website for our seasonal activity guides with trail suggestions and more visitor info.

NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK

Mazama is also conveniently situated for easy access to the North Cascades and the trailheads to many of the Park's world-class hiking trails. It’s a 25 minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 30 minutes to Washington Pass and 35 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead. Great for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.

Getting Around:

Getting here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over State Route 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or via highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop. The nearest major airports are Spokane International Airport at 180 miles (year round) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (190 miles in summer / 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee located 102 miles away.

Getting Around: The Mazama Store is 1.5 miles. Winthrop is 12.5 miles and under 20 minutes drive.

Other Things to Note:

The cabin sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms with queen beds, and on a fold out queen size sofa-bed in the living space. Four guests are included in the nightly rental price.

There is an additional fold-out bed in the loft reading nook, suitable for a child sharing the loft space with parents or a sibling; please note this bed is near the top of the stairs so may not be suitable for a toddler. Maximum occupancy is 4.

A/C:

The downstairs bedroom has a mini-split AC unit, while the loft space has a free-standing air-conditioner unit (ducted through the wall),. In addition windows, doors and the screen porch can be opened up to allow a cross breeze to flow through the living space.

SECURITY CAMERAS

There is an outdoor security camera located under the eaves by the front door. This camera has a view of the front door and covered seating area.

PLEASE NOTE: While pets are NOT allowed in this cabin, the owners of the cabin do have pets and bring them during their stays. If you are highly allergic or sensitive to pet dander/hair please do not book this cabin.

The Inn Pool - guests of our cabin may use The Inn at Mazama outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and tennis/pickleball court located at 15 Country Road in Mazama. The cost to use the pool is $10/guest/day and you should check in at the front desk before heading to the pool. The Inn also has a co-working space and private offices available to rent by the day in case you need space to work during your stay.

We found this cabin to be so quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the summer, hiked in the Cascades in the morning and returned to make dinner and enjoy the sauna in the afternoon.

The weeks prior to this stay were incredibly stressful due to wildfires in the area that caused road closures and hazardous air quality conditions. Since half the group was traveling from out of state, we tried working with the Property owner to reschedule. The property owner was not accommodating and we were forced to decide between going or cancelling without a refund or reschedule. The day prior to our stay, conditions improved drastically and the group decided to make the trip. The property was lovely, well stocked, and in a beautiful location. There was some construction taking place next door, but it did not generally impact our stay. Fortunately, the air was fairly clear and while most trails were closed west of the lodge (active fires / very smoky conditions), we were able to hike some routes to the east. Mazama and Winthrop were nearly empty due to the fires and Route 20 closed again the day before we left. We were fortunate and had a great weekend; however, we could just have easily been stuck in our cabin due to hazardous air quality conditions. Not an ideal gamble to make when traveling cross country / driving 5-hours to the destination. Highly recommend cancel for any reason insurance for this property.
