Rileyville, Virginia
Crimson Star has great views You can see for 30 miles off the deck across the valley and to the mountains to the west. Watch the sunsets over the mountains. It has 6 person hot tub, fireplace, indoor Jacuzzi, nice kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances. Has 2 bedrooms with queen beds and 2 full baths. The cathedral ceilings soar to 24 feet with exposed beams the large windows bring in a flood of natural sunlight has firepit, gas grill, full kitchen with dishware, cookware, utensils etc. its private in the woods but close to Luray, Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, and the Shenandoah River
This cabin had not been cleaned in some time and was nasty. We spent part of our vacation cleaning. Several of the windows were unlocked and opened causing a large amount of stink bugs to enter. Every day we caught stink bugs and removed them from inside the cabin. Several lights were out including the porch and no extra bulbs in the cabin. The hot tub was old with many broken parts and was dirty. When we first arrived, we located a water leak in the basement, which was reported to the property manager, who fixed it within the day.
This is a bogus property, found used condoms, stained pillows, cockroaches, worst property manager who doesn’t respond to anything, shame on you for treating your guests in such a way, booked 3 night check out a day early because of unlivable conditions, please read all the reviews before booking this property, all the 5 stars and above are bogus, please read the genuine 2stars reviews about cockroaches and other complaints, there’s no Wi-Fi not bathroom towels napkins or any basic necessities, I have pictures of all of them unfortunately Vrbo doesn’t let me upload them i wasted 1300$ and if you guys want to waste it too please book this place don’t be fooled with the pictures.
Great view, nice house but cleanliness wasnt great. Seen several roaches. Not what we expected for the price.
Beautiful, peaceful cabin. Enjoyed the long weekend! Close to caverns and National park!
We were greeted by a roach on the table when we first walked in. Checking in was a challenge, where the key is at the door, there was no lighting to view the code lock. The stone from the fireplace was glued to the floor. The Jets in the bath tub on the main floor have poor flow and one of the Jets fell off , the over flow drain in the tub also came off. Yhe coffee pot was full and dirty. The shower upstairs has seen better days and the couches and bedding are dusty and musty. The best part was the hot tub outside overlooking the valley.
This cabin did not disappoint! Beautiful, breathtaking views of the valley and the mountains in the distance. Even better are the views from the hot tub. The cabin itself is well maintained and was very clean upon our arrival. No roaches, but lots of flies and stink bugs (it didn't really bother us, expected when you're in a cabin in the woods). The upstairs bed was very comfortable and the views from the loft were amazing. We didn't spend much time in the 1st floor bedroom or bathroom, but they looked very clean and comfortable. Yes the upstairs shower leaks onto the floor, but we just put an extra towel down. The hot tub, grill, oven, stove, fireplace and hot water all worked perfectly (some of the faucets are opposite for H/C or only need to be turned on slightly to get the hottest water). We cooked a Thanksgiving dinner for 2 two in the kitchen that had plenty of space and equipped with everything we needed (bring any food, spices, and ice that you may need. Including salt and pepper). The steepest part of the driveway is in fact paved now and we thought the drive past the neighboring homes was pretty cool. We felt safe during the drive and our stay. Sure it could use some updating in terms of furniture and interior decorating, but really for 2-4 people it is a lovely cabin.
There were bugs all through the place as well as roaches in the kitchen the beds were uncomfortable and the shower upstairs leaked to downstairs and the downstairs tub didn’t drain nor the sink downstairs properly. The ice maker was broke. Need to upgrade all furniture
We cut our trip very short due to the roaches. Property owner stated he would refund us a night, but I’ve yet to receive any money back yet.
I stayed at this property to enjoy a weekend of hiking at Shenandoah. The house was perfect! The place is very spacious, the hot tub with the view was exactly what I was looking for. We ended up checking in at night so it was alittle scary navigating around the mountain at first but didn’t have any issues otherwise.
I did not have a great stay. It was ok. But for the money I spent, I am not happy overall. It is a decent cabin but for that price I expected better accommodations. The abandoned and dilapidated houses and cars on the drive up to the house make it feel somewhat unsafe. There are no controls for any of the ceiling fans (that I could find). The bedroom TV had no remote. The shower in the downstairs bath does not drain well and is ankle deep by mid shower. The shower curtain has a considerable amount of mold on it. The towels are quite used, with frayed edges and a few small holes. Also, the lock for the downstairs bathroom turns, but does not lock. Same for the master bedroom. There aren't any means to unpack clothing. The dresser was full of blankets and no stand for a suitcase, so having it open on the floor was NOT ideal especially considering the bug problem. Another dresser would easily fit. The kitchen is minimally stocked and items aren’t in great condition. The cabinet doors in the kitchen were sticky. The floors clearly had NOT been cleaned. The beautiful light from the windows made it very obvious; much dust, lint, dead insects and long tresses of hair. The jets in the jacuzzi tub barely have any pressure at all. It is a soaking tub at best. There is a large problem with wasps indoors. I killed several brown wasps and muddobbers were constantly flying around the cabin. The hot tub outside had no lid assist bar, and as one person I was not confident I would be able to get the lid back up onto the tub by myself. So, I was not able to use it as I could not in good conscious just leave it open after my departure. Lastly, the walkout door from the bottom level was UNLOCKED! The view was beautiful and definitely the best aspect of the stay. Thankfully it was only me as there was only one adirondack style chair in good condition. My major disappointment was not being able to use the hot tub and the very poor quality of the jacuzzi tub. These were two of my “wants” (the other was a deck with a great view) and are the SPECIFIC reasons I chose this cabin over others I saw. And to not be able to use one, and the other not working properly, I was VERY disappointed. For the money paid it is not unreasonable to expect a MUCH better cleaning job. Better quality towels. A clean shower curtain. Better quality cookware and utensils. A place to unpack my clothing. A sense of safety with locked doors. And of course, a functioning jacuzzi. NOT worth the price.
Beautiful view, wonderful cabin. Exactly as shown. We will be back.
We had a great cabin , the view from the hot tub was gorgeous. It was very private. The rode up to the cabin was very rocky and steep. No wifi/washer or dryer. The owner accommodated us with a late check out. We would definitely recommend
Now THIS is the real Mountain Cabin! Would absolutely love to return some day! Excellent!! :)
The cabin, views, and location were lovely. We found it and checked in easily. Everyone stayed plenty warm between the heat, fireplace, and hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook every meal. It'd be difficult to ask for more!
