Other Things to Note:

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

The cabin is beautiful in a remote setting. It was well stocked with blankets and dishes for days! There was a great supply of cooking spices, oil, and those sorts of essentials that you hate to buy for just a one-week stay. I wish we had seen a moose! During our stay, the neighbors were doing construction and clearing trees off their property. This was an annoyance on its own as it was noisy all day long, but one day they accidentally downed a power line across the road. A quick text to the property owner to let them know had the power company on-site in no time. The property managers were very helpful, responsive, and kind. The hot tub was great - even on hot summer days as a way to relax. A few things we'd recommend for a slightly more comfortable stay. While the blankets were amazing, the sheets were very starchy and firm. Maybe some people's preference, but not ours. Bathrooms had a lot of amenities, but shampoo and conditioner were poor quality (Suave) and the bottles were nearly empty. Upon entering the property, the bushes are very overgrown, taking over much of the entryway stairs. This was cumbersome when loading and unloading our vehicles at the beginning and end of our stay. Property managers note that mosquitoes are bad in their welcome email and boy are they not kidding! Be prepared with mosquito spray! Some citronella candles or outdoor abatement methods would help exponentially.

Our family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. Plenty of room and loved the area. The house needs a little updating, more cleaning and a binder with all of the specifics about the home. Also, needs a new front door lock. It was very difficult to lock and unlock. All in all we were pleased with this rental.

A large gathering space in a beautiful house. Plenty of space in the bedrooms and the porch with 2 swings—awesome! Very comfortable stay with family.

We enjoyed our stay Jake’s Place. It was easy to find, clean and had everything you would need. If I had it to do over again I would have stayed a little closer to Yellowstone but that was my fault. The only negative thing is the lock is definitely difficult to work. Overall a good experience.

We had a great time at Jake's Place and would definitely recommend to any other groups of friends or larger families. The location made it easy to get to Yellowstone but was still quiet and comfortable after a long day exploring. The kitchen had everything we needed and the large porch was an added bonus.

Jakes Place was the best home base for our Yellowstone trip. We enjoyed their hot tub with a view of the woods. Very quiet and peaceful. Amenities included everything you needed for cooking. Very clean and spacious space. I would definitely stay here again.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Jakes place! The cabin was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for our stay. The cabin was our base camp for 4 days while visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

Wonderful stay with a beautiful place. Property manager was easy to get a hold of with any questions and snow removal was done well and accommodated 3 vehicles.
