Gordonsville, Virginia
My place is close to historic attractions & quaint towns ! So a perfect opportunity to escape and unwind from city life on a beautiful & historic 300 acre estate . Our historic 200 year old bungalow comfortably fits 4 people & is perfect for those who just want to take a step back and enjoy nature.
** We have wifi so the perfect place to WFH ( work from home ) work on the go and unwind as you plan your daily outings, visit a variety of great vineyards & only 20 min away from the home of President Jefferson's "Montecello", & 35 min from the home of President James Madison's "Montpelier". Or if you like to play golf there is within 5 min the nationally recognized Spring Creek Golf Club. We are 40 minutes from Shenandoah Park.
The cottage was just what we needed. The pool was refreshing. My grandchildren loved the cats (Charlie & Carson). The property was beautiful. I wish we could have stayed longer. We never could get the Wifi to work, but we all made out just fine without it!
House was lovely, area quiet. Wifi was listed as good enough you could work from home. It was extremely slow, not really usable. I messaged the host but communication was difficult while being at the cottage. The binder in the house clearly states not to mess with the router in the house(unplug it) download was 4.0 mbps and upload was 0.06 mbps. There was the suggestion to use my own hotspot but I use Verizon and had next to no signal unless I drove appx 2 miles away. The day I checked out the host called me. Upset and said that I had contacted VRBO and was looking for a refund. I explained what happened with the wifi however I was not the person who contacted VRBO. I did tell him that he might want to change the wording in his listing stating that his place is great to work from home with the Internet not being reliable. After the phone call I received from the host I would not stay there again. And I feel terrible for leaving a less than positive review however the phone call I received changed my mind.
We had an amazing 2 night stay at this beautiful home. The pool was so relaxing, we hung out there pretty much all day. My pup loved exploring the grounds as he took in all the new smells. The kitties are from the same rescue that we got our baby boy from. We would definitely stay here again. The hosts were very helpful and answered any questions we had promptly. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
I loved my time at this peaceful and gorgeous property. The history is fascinating and the accommodations were terrific. I will be back and will be telling all my friends about this place!
My daughter and I stayed in this beautiful cottage as part of a weekend trip to celebrate her birthday. We could not have hoped for anything better! We loved being able to stay in such a well restored piece of history. We also enjoyed the unbeatable scenery and frequent visits from the resident cats Charley and Carson. The location itself was perfect - away from the hustle and bustle, but easy distance to any attractions that we wanted to visit. I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area!
We chose a middle of the week time frame for our anniversary trip hoping for a peaceful, chill stay and Green Springs did not disappoint. Beautiful, tranquil setting with anything you could possibly need just a few minutes drive away, but you'd never know it was so close walking the grounds of the estate. The cottage, Summer Kitchen, was clean and comfortable. It wasn't spotless nor was everything in it shiny and new. It was homey and worn and made you feel like you could relax. The owners were quick to respond to us. The grounds were made for walking and we took advantage of that walking the tree lined driveway each morning. We did the short hike to the old plantation cemetery one afternoon and would have been happier if it had been kept up. Instead it had many tree limbs around the bricked walls and piles of bricks where the walls have succumbed to nature. The actual cemetery is sadly overgrown. There is a beautiful swimming pool but the weather was too chilly for us to go swimming. The amenities inside the cottage are plentiful, offering everything you could need. We felt safe on the grounds. And lastly, the cats!! We are cat people and Charlie and Carson are people cats. They made our stay so enjoyable, choosing to stay inside with us whenever we were there. It was a good choice of lodging for us and we'd definitely book with Nico and Kim again.
Lovely cottage. Great location for those that like rural views with community gathering spots. Easy access to great Charlotteville restaurants.
Property is just amazing and adorable. So cozy and private. Pool space was awesome. It is about a 20 minute drive from downtown C-Ville. I’m a foodie… that’s the closest your gonna get to good food and shopping. There wasn’t really anything in Gordonsville. But it was a perfect get away. I enjoyed the slow mornings making breakfast at the cottage, reading a book and having coffee outside. Multiple outdoor spaces to choose from to relax. My stay was very quiet and peaceful, much needed! I hope to stay again!
The cabin is even more beautiful than it looks in pictures, clean, and on a gorgeous and quiet piece of property. My boyfriend and I went for a relaxing weekend getaway with our dog and had what we agreed to be the best long weekend vacation since we were little kids. Location was great — easy to get to Monticello and explore the local vineyards/breweries. Additionally, the land the cabin is on is great to explore and hike around. Owners were wonderful and when a personal emergency arose were quick to step in and go above and beyond to help us out. We are already planning our return and recommending to friends. Also, there are three different cabins which would be perfect to rent out with different families/couples at the same time.
From selection to check in, the process could not have been easier. The location is perfect. Close enough to wineries, antiques and restaurants, but offers plenty of open space and peace and quiet. The history of the property is an added bonus. How often do you get to stay in a structure that has been around since the 1770’s! We’ll definitely be back.
This was the perfect get away location for my husband and puppy. Would be happy to stay here again some day.
A peaceful, beautiful large property to roam, rest and enjoy a bonfire outside or cozy reading inside the comfortable 1700's cottage. The history of the Green Spring Plantation is profound; it humbles us as guests as we read the stories of those who lived and truly maintained the property in centuries past. The cottage was clean and all essentials were provided. Kim and Nico are super hosts! Great location to Charlottesville and Louisa breweries and wineries.
Great spot for relaxation to celebrate our 10-yr anniversary. Loved the tree lined drive, coziness of the cottage and the pool! Owners were prompt in answering any questions we had.
Beautiful estate “plantation” setting, close to all of Charlottesville. Quiet and convenient—with two wonderful cats waiting to welcome you!
The cabin was comfortable and clean. The outdoor space inviting and beautiful. We enjoyed meeting the local kitties and horses. The height of the bathtub is a bit tricky to get in and out of but overall a peaceful retreat. We would stay here again.
