Gordonsville, Virginia
Great for families - especially with older kids who want to have an immersive working farm experience (turkeys free ranging, Valais sheep, livestock guardian dogs and farm cats all around!). Ideal for traveling nurses. A cozy 3br 2 ba cottage with full kitchen nestled in the Virginia countryside on a working farm. Steeped in history and built in 1752, the Kitchenhouse was the kitchen for the main home for many a century. This cottage kitchen was fully renovated in 2022.
Situated conveniently between UVA and Virginia wine country (and Woodberry Forest!) makes it the perfect escape to visit kids at school or steal away from the city to the country. In the Fall you may be staying when we plant peonies or watch our farm develop in its first season.
We love the walks to Happy Creek or the mile tree lined jaunt to the main road.
This is a working farm so you never know if you will be greeted by one of the family pets or farm animals when you step outside. Great for kids and kids at heart when you need to escape somewhere to recenter and recharge. This is not a place for people who need something beyond rural internet.
We really enjoyed staying at this cozy, renovated1700's kitchen house! It had perfect spaces for our 2 teenaged boys to spread out upstairs, beautiful views and places to walk, and was excellent for running between Woodberry and Charlottesville. The friendly dogs and fresh eggs were an added bonus for us.
This place was more than adequate for our needs. It was such a cute, quaint house with just the right amount of things needed and tons of the unexpected little touches. The host was beyond exceptional in communication and helpfulness. Lovely super nice people. Even was welcomed with homemade banana bread fresh from the oven. Hope to be able to get back soon.
We enjoyed our weekend here, and the location can't be beat. The farm is beautiful and unique; the kitchen house is well renovated and historic at the same time. You have to go outside to go up the stairs to two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms; we did not realize this when booking, and it wasn't ideal. However, we made it work and Lauren was a great host.
It was a wonderful peaceful place to stay. Could use a couple of more kitchen items. Beds were so comfortable! Love the lavender castile soap!
What a beautiful and charming place to stay. My daughter's and I came into town for a wedding for the weekend. We fell in love with the house as soon as we walked in the door. Everything about the beds were very comfortable. We had very tasty homemade cookies, chocolates and wine waiting for us. And fresh picked flowers were brought over by the owners daughter. I highly recommend this property!!
