This apartment is right downtown and convenient to everything Taos has to offer including restaurants, shops, galleries and museums.
For five years this was my popular shop Red Cat Melissiana. One day I realized my passion was Vacation Rentals (I have 11) and not retail so it was time to re invent myself once again... Red Cat Melissiana Apartment is located in an 1880's building with all the charm of old Taos and so much history. Originally this was a street with small homes and shopsacross the street from the Plaza and the original Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. This street was once the Red Light District of Taos with a network of underground tunnels leading to interesting destinations and all kinds of varied stories. There are many spirit activity reports for juicy stories to share. Just ask me...
This apartment is now a newly re furbished space decorated with my antiques, original art and sense of whimsy throughout. It's everything you could want on your vacation for 1-4 guests and so very 'Taos'.
Built in the 1880's, the building has many wooden vigas (ceiling beams), creaky old wood floors, 14 walls and many windows.
The living room has a queen sofa sleeper with a gel foam mattress and sleeps 2 additional guests with bedding stored in antique trunk/coffee table. ($25 per person per night to be added when booking)There is a big flat screen TV if TV is something you want on your vacation. It's located in a one of a kind cupboard in the living room behind closed doors. I also have a record player and albums for that retro feel.
The bedroom features a queen bed with high end bedding and a decorative quilt. There is a trastero/armoire for your clothing and just leave your robes at home since there are two just waiting for your cozy moments here.
The kitchen features an eclectic tiled counter, vintage cooktop, sink and refrigerator combo. It is well equipped and offers all amenities for any cooking at home. Table for two-four and extra chairs if you need them.
The bathroom features a fully tiled corner shower and a sink set in an antique Mexican cabinet. There are lots of towels and any supplies you might need.
Winter heat is provided by two stoves. One gas and one electric. Operate gas log stove only by the wall thermostat. NEVER turn off main gas line. For summer there are ceiling fans and a window ac, but the 14 thick walls keep this space comfortable year round.
If you visit in spring, summer or fall you can enjoy 'Melissa's Secret Garden' a private little private oasis under a box elder tree surrounded by container plants, a wall fountain, outdoor lighting and lots of assemblage garden art. I am also offer a BBQ grill and string lights so my guests can enjoy this outdoor space.
My style of decor is Melissiana Eclectic. What is this it's a mix and match style with antiques, yard sale and consignment treasures, original art and more--always fun things for my guests to discover, appreciate and enjoy.
This downtown historic building actually has three private apartments and is perfect for single travelers and couples or combine the three and bring a bigger group of friends and families. The three apartments will sleep up to ten guests in total. All kinds of possibilities If you choose to stay 30 days or more I offer a generous 50% discount. (Check out my other two apartments on this street Vrbo 422849 (the Red Cat House) and Vrbo 513557 (Casa Flora)
As with all of my properties this apartment is dog friendly. I provide dog sheets for bed and sofa as well as a decorated mutt mitt box in the side courtyard. $10 per night per dog. Just add at time of booking. For stays of 30 days or more it is $100 pet fee per stay.
Great prices, nicely furnished with a quirky sense of style, well equipped, comfortable beds, old adobe with thick walls for peaceful nights and privacy, right downtown and parking across the street. WOW!

The adress advertised was wrong it was several doors down ? I wasn't the only one confused. And I had to confront the person in the # apt. That I originally paid for. Before realizing it changed , there was no BBQ grill or record player and the key is stuck in the door sure its in a lobby!, i but who cares.. its not a locked door...We loved the garden and the quirky new mexico art as well as the location.

This was an amazing stay. Location is great. House has everything you need to cook a quick breakfast or store your leftovers. The house is also well decorated and has a lot of nice homey touches! Checking in was easy. Only thing to be aware of is the the parking. It's free from 5pm-10am and free on Sundays. Outside of these hours, you have to park a block away, or pay on the parking lot which ends up being about 1.50 per hour. We were able to find parking but I could imagine when it's busier, you might have a harder time.

Melissa’s space was very easy to find, in a great location and was much more spacious than we thought it would be.She’s very accommodating for pets, we brought our dog and sheets were provided for the couch so our dog could be comfortable while we were there. We felt very at home and the surrounding area was very walkable!

This is a very cool property. I stayed her a few years back and was looking forward to another visit. Sadly, my mother passed away on the day my reservation started and the property manager was unwilling to allow me to change the dates. Disappointing service for a repeat customer.

I was treating my girlfriend to my favorite place in the country Taos New Mexico her first time and she was so amazed at the room that I reserved. And I was too everywhere we looked it was most beautifully appointed and creative taosena style of an artist I would even love to meet! Had the atmosphere and feel of the Taos home and artists home. I was in a good place!!

This place is ooozing with character and so many unique touches. We loved the location and could walk to shops and dining options nearby. The bathroom situation is…cozy. There is no good lighting for getting ready, so be advised to pack a lighted mirror if you want to see what you’re doing. The shower is teeny tiny. The kitchen is also very small for food prep but served the purpose for minimal prep. Overall, we loved staying here and would recommend. It was truly a memorable experience!
