Stayed Sep 7, 2017We loved staying at Manuela's apartment. This is an adjunct of the main house but entirely independent, with plenty of parking space. The property provides every conceivable amenity with ample comfort. Whilst the house itself may not be the most characterful rural dwelling it is a great base from which to explore the glorious countryside around it. It is situated up a hill at the very end of country lane, with farms all around. One can easily enjoy the blessed isolation (as we did) with plenty of woodland walking within immediate reach. One of the most attractive feature of the property is the stunning view from the apartment's wooden balcony and from the bedroom window. The cows in the adjacent field will greet you in the morning (safely grazing behind their electric fence!) as you drink in the view over miles of rolling hills and woodlands. It really is a rural idyll but, go prepared for the weather! Of our four days, two were of driving rain and you really do feel cast adrift in a wooden 'cabin' as you look out over the sheets of rain ranging across the panorama in front of you. If watching all the elements paraded in this way from your privileged position on your entirely private canopied decking floats your boat (as it does ours) then this place is a must to experience. For all the rain we had (which didn't stop us getting out and about) there were also wonderful evening sunscapes and an envigorating rainbow or two! One minor point to bear in mind, the (very comfortable) bedroom has electric metal roller blinds but the windows do not open. We presume this is to avoid the ingress of any rural bugs? We do enjoy fresh air at night so initially we thought this might be a problem but, leaving the bedroom door open gave us sufficient circulation of air and it didn't really prove to be so. If the weather had been hotter during our stay we might not have been quite so comfortable because we were not aware of any air conditioning. We loved our stay in Manuela's house/apartment. For anyone wishing to spend time relaxing and walking in beautiful sylvan and pastoral scenery, with so many wonderful places to visit nearby (such as Hameln, The Hermann Denkmal and Exernsteine, the Alstadten of Rinteln and Minden, Schloss Buckeburg etc.), we totally recommend this Extertal property and we would be very happy to go again. Just make sure you use your Sat Nav for the last few K's to get to No 6 Hohle Strasse; the property can be quite elusive!
