This is your own bright and open apartment in a private garden setting, all centrally located in Savannah's Victorian district, within the Thomas square neighborhood.
The best description is an urban cabin. I strive to keep it as open as possible for less clutter and still provide you with a comfortable stay. There are practical, modern elements mixed with vintage pieces that hold their own in the space. There is a galley kitchen with a fridge and stovetop oven. The windows provide for great natural light all day, and for any afternoon thunderstorms it's the best view on the property. The garden is expansive and very peaceful. It's situated behind a large colonial revival house (1914), and both sit on a 1/4 acre lot. There are 70 ft tall water oaks that shade the property. And open as it is, it feels very much like a private retreat.
If the space is available I will give a discount to visiting writers for longer stays of a week or more. If you are looking to book for a month or longer, i can also provide a discounted rate. Please inquire further when you are looking to book.
Just a few blocks south of Forsyth Park, it is within very close walking distance of Cotton & Rye, Blowin' Smoke, Butterhead Greens, Foxy Loxy, Elizabeth's, Local 1110, American Legion, Betty Bombers, Le Chai, Sentient Bean, Perc, Green Truck, and Brighter Day. It is also in close proximity to the Starland District (galleries, Starland Cafe, Back in the Day, Starlandia and the Wormhole), the Florence, and a few of SCAD's major buildings, including Arnold Hall. The main central library is 3 blocks away. There are 2 older bikes to use for your stay, and a large garden and patio to enjoy.
This is as central as you can get south of the historic squares, less the congestion. There is a city bus line that stops on the corner, but otherwise it is 5 minutes by car from here to river street, 15 minutes by bike (with a dedicated bike lane on opposite corner), and about half hour if your hoofing it (unless you stop for a beer to escape the midday sun).
For Tybee visitors, it is a few blocks from victory drive, and from there it takes about 25 minutes to drive. I do have beach chairs, large towels, and a cooler for you to use.
There will be a small variety of breakfast items provided, usually including organic or locally sourced coffee, milk, juice, eggs, cereal, and some beverages.
(note: there are shades and curtains on every window for privacy. I intentionally edit out any televisions, but wifi is provided in case you want to stream movies or music on your own wireless device.)
If there is no availability on the calendar, you may contact me regarding the upstairs unit.
Thank you to my guests, Mike and Olivia from Chicago, for providing me with beautiful new listing photographs. Most all in the series were taken by Mike Killion from Chicago.

Amazing accommodation ! The location is perfect. Close to most attractions and within walking distance . The room was very comfortable with a lovely outdoor area . Our communication with Richard was perfect . Overall we could not have been happier . Would highly recommend!
We rented for St Patrick’s day weekend in Savannah and this was a perfect location for walking to the parade and Forsyth Park. Also, walking distance to mid town restaurants and bars in the starland district. It was very clean and nicely decorated/furnished. The owner was very responsive and helpful.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this property to celebrate an anniversary and we were not disappointed. Overall, the property was just as advertised and a very unique place to stay. We enjoyed the restaurants within walking distance of the property and the close proximity to downtown. The place was very artsy and unique, giving a special feel that made the stay feel unique. The only downside to this property is the additional rental property above it, as there are other tenants staying above you in which you can hear their footsteps relatively easily. While we heard the footsteps above us, it didn’t really bother us. Overall, we thought you couldn’t beat this property for the price!
We love the city of Savannah and glad we stayed here and explored more closely the Victorian district. Tip to the owner….check that the freezer is defrosted before guests arrive and advertise more as good for short weekend stays due to the bathing accommodations. Would be better to design a bathroom similar to the unit upstairs and have a more fully handicap accessible apartment to offer..
The cabin apartment is very bright and cheerful. The yard is lovely, with trees and bushes full of birds. We really loved the neighborhood, outside the main bustle of the Historic District but centrally located so you can get anywhere. Besides, the Thomas Square/Forsyth Park area has attractions enough of its own. You'll enjoy using the nice bikes Richard has available: a great way to experience the city!
We greatly enjoyed our stayed! It was perfect for our long weekend! Mr. Richard was very kind and made great suggestions that we used throughout our stay. We look forward to staying here again in the future!
Very accurate, great location
This was exactly what I expected based on the property description and reviews. Richard, the owner and host, went above and beyond to make our short stay in Savannah a memorable experience! Inside, we found light snacks and beverages, and he had notebooks and magazines on the table with helpful information about restaurants and activities in Savannah. The courtyard area was an ideal area for our pups to be off leash and play under supervision. The bed was very comfortable, and a nice soak in the clawfoot bathtub felt great after exploring the city.
Loved our time here so much! Richard was wonderful to work with and thought of every little detail to make you feel right at home. The location was perfect and an easy 10 minute bike ride to downtown. The carriage house was the coolest little place. Loved the big open windows overlooking the beautiful courtyard. It was so great having our dogs with us, as they too enjoyed the big windows and courtyard. We will definitely be back! One of our favorite stays for sure!
This was, without a doubt, the single most pleasant vacation experience I've booked. Honestly, it's been better than most hotels I've stayed at. Richard played both host and concierge, greeting us and giving us booklets with info, maps around the neighborhood, and tons of recommendations of where to eat. Then there were the treats! Four fresh yogurts in the fridge, along with almond milk and a small half and half. Sodas, tea, coffee, granola, a very fancy chocolate bar. There was a little bath bomb on the bathtub, tons of whole foods fancy soaps and shampoos. Forgot your razor? There's a basket full under the sink. Makeup remover? Richard's got you there too. A book to read? You want Tolkien? O'Conner? In stock. Netflix? Already loaded up. Fresh ranunculus flowers floating elegantly in water? On the goddamn table. The whole place was stunning. Not to mention the wall of windows that looks out into such an idyllic garden. It's a prime location, right in the heart of the Victorian district, and such a great deal. My boyfriend and I will absolutely be back!
