About this space:

The Gage/Murphy Mansion is a crown jewel from the early days of Prescott and located just 2 blocks away from Courthouse Square and Whiskey Row. Originally constructed in 1895 as the family home of business tycoon E.B. Gage, and later railroad tycoon Frank M. Murphy, this restored monument of local history has been just steps away from the heart of Prescott for over 125 years.

The space:

The entire home is 7274 sq ft with a total of 10 units spread out amongst 3 floors and a basement, each unique to one another in size, layout, and design – come back and stay at them all for a different experience each time! You will not find another gem like this in all of Prescott.

Unit 8 - “The Cabin Suite” is on the 3rd level (top floor) and is one of the larger units at approx. 800 sq ft with 2 bed/1 bath. This space has 1 large-size bedroom with a queen-size bed and a 39” TV, 1 smaller bedroom with a twin size bed and a 32” TV, a living room with a sectional sofa and 42” TV, a small dining table with chairs, bathroom with a stand-up shower, and a full kitchen for your use and enjoyment. The unit is up high and boasts some of the best views where you can see Thumb Butte, Granite Mountain, and the town of Prescott.

Guest access:

The building itself has two main entrances. One is through the front door of the home which can be accessed from the front porch on the north side of the house that faces Gurley St. The other is located through the Mansion’s side door on the West side of the building, which you can see from S Alarcon St. The side door is closer to the parking, but the main entrance is a bit more “grand” – feel free to use either.

Unit 8’s entrance is best accessed through the Mansion’s side door on the West side of the building. Enter the building through there, walk up the stairs to the 2nd level, then around the corner to the right and up the 2nd flight of stairs to the 3rd level, and the door to “The Cabin Suite” will be to the left.

Other things to note:

Please respect and take care of the home during your stay. Much of it is original and cannot be replaced.

As much of it is original please expect some creaking floors and other noises and sights that come with a home that’s well over 100 years old. We think it adds to the appeal! But not everyone may think the same way so, just a heads up .

Parking is first come first serve and is limited to 1 vehicle per unit. There is an upper level parking lot accessed via the private road immediately to the south of the building, and a smaller lower level parking lot on the same level as the building. Street parking is also available.

This place is very clean and unique, which is what we were hoping for! Location was fantastic for walking to Whiskey Row, Courthouse Plaza, and plenty of shopping and restaurants. It had all the basic necessities. What would make it a little more comfortable or functional are a comfier couch, control of the thermostats (although we understand why they are fixed, it got a little warm for our liking), more towels, and lamps for other lighting options. Overall, this was a nice stay and we would recommend to others. Looking forward to staying in some of the other units in the Mansion.

We enjoyed ourselves at the top unit in the mansion. Melanie was quick to reply and resolve any issues. The mansion is walking distance to everything you would want to do downtown Prescott. There was a live band in the Town Hall park and Santa was there to entertain everyone. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Peacock room. Shopping in Prescott was a lot of fun too.

This room was not a nicely decorated as the Tranquility Suite. Being it was geared towards a family with a younger child it makes sense. The beds were super comfy. The furniture in the main room is was pretty good but the couch slid all over. The shower curtain in the shower in the bathroom was ripped up and one of the towels was stained. The bedroom with the queen bed was so hot all night and you can't control the heat. We slept with the small window open and a fan and that helped some. The rest of the suite was cool at night, just the one bedroom was so hot! We will be back but would not stay in this suite again. hot in

Apartment was great. So cute. Only downside was no AC. The hosts brought in portable ac units which helped a lot, but there was not any AC for the master bedroom. Otherwise, great place!

The Cabin Suite was a perfect spot for our few days in Prescott. It couldn’t be more perfectly located, just far enough away to not be noisy at night if the windows are open, but still walking distance to town and all the fun bars & restaurants. Both my husband and I were working remotely during the day and had enough room to spread out and take meetings when we needed. WiFi worked great. Building is a beautifully redone old mansion and at no time was it noisy or did we feel like we could hear others in other suites (this suite is on the top level so no one above us). There is not AC, only a couple of evaporative coolers (swamp coolers) and it was fine in the living room/kitchen area, but the primary bedroom does get quite warm at sundown. There are plenty of fans though and with the windows open, it cools down quickly. My only gripe would be that we couldn’t log into our own streaming accounts and the TV in the primary bedroom was set to only a Kids profile, so left little options for watching anything when we went to bed. I was able to cast to the TV in the living room, so we were able to use our account for a movie one night. There is Hulu, Prime and Netflix on the TV with plenty of options, we just prefer using our own services. Owners/mgmnt are very communicative and very helpful. We’re already talking about our next trip and would def stay here again. Thanks for a great place to stay!
