Relaxing Suite A “The Sweetest Suites on the River” on Historic Main Street

Great place. Brought our 3 year old with us and the set up was ideal for that. Even had perfect seating for the music festival that went on the night we arrived. Definitely would recommend.

Absolutely Exceptional Stay – One of the Best Places I’ve Ever StayedI’m fortunate enough to travel extensively around the world for work, so I’ve experienced everything from luxury hotels to unique accommodations in many destinations. I stayed here while attending a family graduation, and I can honestly say this property exceeded every expectation.I stayed in Suite A for three nights, and from the moment I arrived, I was impressed. This was quite possibly the cleanest place I could have hoped for—immaculately maintained and incredibly welcoming.The décor was beautifully done and perfectly matched the character and charm of the location. The views were absolutely stunning, and every detail seemed thoughtfully planned.What impressed me most was how well-equipped everything was. The suite had more amenities and thoughtful touches than many high-end hotel chains I’ve stayed in, making it feel both luxurious and comfortable.I truly cannot recommend this place enough. If you are visiting Elkader, this property is an absolute must. This was actually my first VRBO experience, and it completely changed my perspective—it has convinced me that this is a style of travel I’ll be choosing much more often.I will absolutely stay here again, and I give it my highest recommendation without hesitation.

Beautiful view in the morning looking over the river. Beautiful room set up. Walking distance to coffees shops, bakery, stores, a walking path. The perfect evening set up in rocking chairs to enjoy drinks, conversation and the beauty of down town. Will definitely stay again.

My wife and I stayed in Suite A during my class reunion, which coincided with the annual Sweet Corn Days festival. The Mill has a perfect location, close to all the main landmarks in town and within easy walking distance. As others have mentioned, the staircase could be trick for some but we were careful and had no trouble. The studio was spotless, well-laid out, and had all the necessities. The host was kind, attentive, and very helpful. Would we stay there again? No brainer -- YES!

I stayed two nights. Great location. I was there for a family living event and liked having the respite space to relax. Love having the Turkey river outside my windows.

what a fantastic hide away with spectacular views. spot on decorating style- warm, cozy, and clean. very romantic. quaint downtown is a few blocks of well preserved and full of stores, coffee, and a few restaurants. it is a sleepy town, all of the lights were out by 9p. the room has microwave and mini fridge so plan accordingly for meals. also- the space is upstairs so navigating the small staircase may be tricky for some.

Charming, vintage homes and shops, a delightful view of the river, and so relaxing to listen to it through the night. The apartment is decorated beautifully. We enjoyed our cater as a spot to rest in between our little day trips around Northeast Iowa.Communication with the host was easy and clear. Locals were so kind.

A perfect suite- had everything we needed!

Relaxing stay on the Turkey River. Great Algerian food and drinks at Shera’s, lively bands at Deb’s Brewtopia, and vigorous hiking around the wetlands and hills. Accommodations were private and quiet. We’ll be back.

Spent Halloween weekend in Elkader. Great accommodations and view of the Turkey River. Quiet and private. Hiked Effigy Mounds State Park, at Shera’s Algerian Restaurant, and visited the mall downtown. The latter two 2 minutes from our stay.

What a beautiful place and view! Downtown was super cute and active. Lots of awesome trout fishing streams within 20-30 min drive. Room was very clean and nicely renovated. Loved all the windows and water view. Highly recommend it!

Room was awesome. Every thing I needed was in the room. All I had to do was show up. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the Turkey River. Joe and Nancy are the perfect hosts. They made me and the guests in the other rooms feel like old friends and family. I will definitely use again and recommend whole heartedly.
