Southwest Harbor, Maine
Sunny ground level apartment, in private home, located in a great location, 0.7 miles (3 minute drive) from Flying Mountain hike in Acadia National Park. Is 0.4 miles from the 9 hole Causeway Golf Course. Bar Harbor is 13 miles away. Ocean view (foot bridge in photo) is a 0.5 mile walk or drive from us. Sleeps 2. Close proximity to downtown Southwest Harbor for your shopping and dining pleasures. My husband and I are both vaccinated against Coronavirus.
We enjoyed this quaint apartment in the quiet area of Acadia. It was an easy trip into Bar Harbor and Acadia and we enjoyed the area a lot!
Alison and Steve are great hosts who aim to please. We thank them for a comfy week!
This is a terrific spot for a couple. In a great location on the Quiet Side of the island. Quiet and peaceful but close to the town and activities. Steve and Alison know the are well and do a terrific job of helping you with potential activities to fit your interests. Bed is comfortable and kitchen is fully equipped. A motion-activated night light was a nice touch. We did set off their over-zealous smoke alarm cooking bacon, but otherwise had a great week here.
Excellent location for visiting the many different sections of Acadia. VRBO was clean and in good shape. Check-in communication with owner was very good.
My 1st time staying in Southwest Harbor - I am truly a fan! Alison and Steve were very helpful with information on hiking trails and places of interest. Plenty of current maps and information to borrow during our stay. Thanks Mike and Barb
We needed a quiet place to serve as a base station while we hiked and explored Acadia and the area. This property served us well. Property owners were very responsive to all questions and helpful in guiding us to resources during our stay.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the location is excellent. Very close to hikes with great views on the quiet side and a 25 minute drive to the other side of the island. A quick drive to restaurants in Southwest Harbor. The owner went above and beyond with cleaning and COVID safety measures. It is a good space for two people, with a fully stocked kitchen.
This was our third stay at a VRBO. The site met our needs, and was located on MDI. It was definitely better to be on island rather than make a long drive everyday from the mainland. Our hosts provided a kayak/double kayak that we enjoyed using. Opportunities to paddle in different ponds, harbors. We also enjoyed access to cooking our own lobsters, which they told us of a local fisherman for purchasing lobsters. The kitchen was pretty well stocked. A few suggestions-- a pair of kitchen shears would be helpful and a light bulb over the stove. On the whole, we were free to come and go as we pleased, but they always were willing to answer any questions or give directions to a place. We did not spend a lot of time on the Bar Harbor side. Almost too busy for us. We like the quietness and slower pace of the west side. We got to hike many trails, but there were a lot we did not get to see for lack of time. The hosts kept us informed regarding earlier plumbing issues, but everything was in working order when we arrived. We are so glad we were able to experience MDI. It was a very memorable trip.
This house location was on the *NOT SO TOURISTY side of Acadia NP, perfect for getting away from the crowds daily. It was near good food and hiking but also not far from the park and Bar Harbor. Lots of room to spead out and even park my cargo trailer out of the way. Hostess was very accomodating making us feel quite welcome.
Great!
