Private Garden Studio w/Separate Office Space, Gorgeous Bay Views, Oakland Hills

This place is great! A beautiful setting and very comfortable. It was the clean and well stocked with everything we might need which we really appreciated. The hosts were very attentive. If we go to this area again we will want to stay there!

Catherine's retreat was the perfect home away from home on our first extended stay back in the Bay after moving away several years back. Her place was immaculate, spacious, and provided all of the comforts that any home would have. We can't wait to return. Thank you again, Catherine!!

Everything was great! Catherine was available before and during our stay and responded to our questions promptly. The guest house was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything we needed and more (fun snacks, drinks, extra towels, etc.). Directions and instructions were clear and thorough.

This property approaches, almost completely, my ideal of a great VRBO rental. Everything is so perfectly curated from the communication to the filtered water in the fridge to the heated towel bar in the bathroom to mention just a few. Appreciated the extraordinary garden and opportunities to view it from the patio. The space is inviting, light-filled and tastefully decorated. I especially liked the books. Recommend highly for a couple.

Very pretty garden adjacent to the space with night lighting. The neighborhood was very quiet at night. The unit had everything you might need from brochures for local tourist attractions to a wide variety of snacks.

Space had plenty to offer. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen were stocked with basics for snacks and coffee, and the outdoor space was very nice to sit and look at the view. The location was near various local trails, which was a big part of why we were there. After a long day of hiking around the Bay Area, coming back to all the small amenities and comforts made a big difference!

This host thought of everything. The place is beautiful and nothing was wanting. Probably the best Vrbo (or equivalent short-term rental service) that my wife and I have had. Six stars . . . no seven!

Our host has thought of everything! Tiny touches throughout; even amenities in the office area! The yard is gorgeous, and you do have a view of the bay. Spacious studio with nice tv area. Lovely property.

Quiet, thoughtful amenities, and beautiful, peaceful

I had a fantastic stay! The place was even better than described, and I already knew that I loved the area, having stayed in the same vicinity the week prior. But this place was so nice, so quiet. A wonderfully-landscaped property, privacy galore, and everything I could possibly want, in terms of accommodations. Everything from heated towels to a nice entertainment system for watching TV, incredibly comfortable bed and pillows, and even a stocked fridge with drinks and granola and so many other little details & things that were so thoughtfully provided. If you plan to take rideshares and not drive, it can be a little pricey, because you are up on a nice hill overlooking the bay, about a 15 minute drive to downtown oakland, and about a 45 minute drive into The City. I did a combination of driving myself during the day, and ride shares at night to go to concerts, which was the reason I was there, and it worked out great. I would highly recommend staying here again, and probably will try to stay here again myself.

We didn't want to leave! The home was clean, comfortable, private and the host went above and beyond with amenities providing snacks, fruit, drinks. Anything needed was there and the outdoor seating areas were so beautiful and relaxing with hummingbirds everywhere! Would absolutely recommend!

Absolutely in love with Catherine and Scott's cottage, their hospitality. We are staying there every time for many years when we are coming to Oakland. Guesthouse with everything you could wish for inside.

We have stayed here several times, and it never disappoints. It is impeccably clean, thoughtfully stocked, and very quiet and private. We have not met the owner, but we sure do feel grateful for such a great place to stay when we visit family in Oakland. Access is slightly tricky on a natural stone path; you have to be able to carry your bags. Well worth it. The garden is lovely; access to the parks and trails in the hills is a plus; there is no kitchen, but it’s easy to bring in take-out or make a simple breakfast there. A gem.

Our stay was comfortable and peaceful. So close to all the places we wanted to go without being in the hubbub. Easy access to hiking, restaurants, public transit. Beautiful garden surrounding the cottage.

Outstanding in all aspects. This is our fourth visit to this lovely cottage. Quiet, spacious and very comfortable bed. Close to Montclair Village with shipping and restaurants.

This is a great little house. It is very spacious for a studio and has a nice sized living area with tv, and a comfy bed, plus a kitchenette with everything except a cooktop. The cottage is located in a beautiful garden, loved by birds. There are several outdoor sitting areas, very private, and very birdy. The internet works great. Parking is on the street, but it is not in any way a busy street. The walk from the street to the cottage is a bit uphill, so it may not be a good choice for someone with mobility issues. Otherwise, it is great to walk through the garden and enjoy the varied plants the owner has put into her garden. We loved just looking at the plants. There is also a view of the bay! So, it’s everything you could want for a couple or a single individual. We stayed there for two separate weekends, and would go back in heartbeat.

Great bed, thoughtfully furnished studio apartment, bigger than most studios. Outdoor spaces are beautiful, gardens and birds! The owners have thought of everything you might need, and it is there. Very private. Definitely will return if available for our next visits to the area.

There's nothing more pleasant than having every expectation exceeded. This beautiful private studio cabin is located in an incredibly convenient location with access to everything. Check-in and check-out instructions, tips and area maps, snacks, and more await. There is a living room area, bedroom area and a well stocked bathroom. The hosts are communicative and welcoming. We look forward to starting here again in the future!

If you are looking for a private and relaxing get away, look no further. The breathtaking views of the bay and the peaceful grounds were just what I was hoping for. The magical, garden lighting was the perfect accent to end the days. This host did not miss a thing! Any questions about the rental were addressed in clearly written out instructions and she was terrific with communication. Hoping to visit again in the future :-)

Wonderful and enjoyable stay with hosts that are

Generously appointed, immaculate, spacious, private and very comfortable. Eight minute drive from Montclair Village with shopping, restaurants and grocery stores. This was our second stay and it will be our first choice whenever we visit the Bay Area.

We spent a week in this wonderfully appointed and very comfortable cottage. Thank you to our host Catherine for providing a terrific home away from home for my wife and I. We will definitely be back again when in the area!

Catherine is the perfect host and made sure I had everything I needed. The cottage is nestled in a beautiful garden and is stocked with everything you would want. If you are staying in Montclair this is the best! This beautiful cottage is fully equipped with anything you need. It is quiet, spacious, private and very comfortable. It is close to Montclair Village, with grocery stores, restaurants and shops. We look forward to coming back whenever we are in town.

This property is in a beautiful peaceful garden setting. The views of the bay are wonderful. We appreciated that the owners allowed us to bring our Ebikes onto their property. Thank you. The place was equipped with everything we could possibly have needed. The neighborhood is away from the city in a quiet beautiful area in the pines.

We loved our stay here up in the Oakland hills. The host thought of everything. The location is amazing with beautiful views and a nice patio where you can enjoy the scenery. Would definitely recommend staying here!
