Stayed Jun 25, 2025Really lovely place. Clean and quiet. Hosts are lovely and took me and my daughter on a walking tour of the (beautiful) property. Property is gorgeous and has so many little areas to explore. Centrally located for everything you'd want to do in the area. Loved it. Would stay again.

Stayed Oct 10, 2024This was a perfect basement unit to relax in after hiking all day at Acadia. The hosts were amazing with communication and gave us recommendations on hikes, food, and unique things to do. We also had the option to use their canoes and grill. They wanted us to truly cherish our Maine experience.

Stayed Apr 17, 2022What a great place for families. The property is huge and is a great destination in itself. There is a lake and stream and woods for everyone to explore. The location is close to hiking trails and an easy drive into Acadia National Park. JF, the owner, was such a wonderful host. He was welcoming, communicative, and generous. He started a fire and invited us to have the kids roast marshmallows, set up a hammock, brought toys into the apartment for the kids to play, offered so much information, and even shared some of his wood creations with us. The apartment itself was comfortable. The stairs to enter the basement are a little steep which may be an issue for people with mobility limitations. The apartment is stocked with a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, a drip coffee pot, dishes, and silverware along with some coffee and creamers. There is a king and twin bed in one room and a queen and loft bed in the other. The loft bed is not appropriate for young kids as you need a separated step ladder to access it. The drive into Acadia was not bad and there were several outdoor sites and trails nearby including a lake. The property itself is the perfect place for nature and bird spotting. If we return to the area we will be sure to book this apartment again. Thanks for helping make our trip great!

Stayed Oct 2, 2025We had an incredible stay. James was absolutely fantastic. He was able to answer questions that we had. He made our trip special by allowing us to use kayaks and personally took the kayak to the water. His property is beautiful and peaceful. We were also able to enjoy a fire one evening. The property was exactly as described. A couple of items that might be helpful for other visitors: The steps down to the basement apartment are quite steep. This did not affect our time there, but might be something for others to be aware of. The space does not have a full kitchen: there is a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Washing any dishes was a bit challenging as we needed to use wash bins in the bathroom sink. If you plan on eating out most of the time, this will not be an issue. The common area consists of a kitchen table, chairs and a television. There is not a living room space with couches and longe chairs.

The best part of the stay was the access to Long Pond and the kayaks, which was our main reason for booking this property. The location can't be beat also! JF & his wife truly went above and beyond—welcoming us with a tour of the property & encouraging the kids to explore the yard. They were so personable and friendly—truly the ideal hosts. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do in Acadia, and the detailed binder of local tips and recommendations they prepared was invaluable for planning our trip. Stayed Oct 13, 2024The property was located in a peaceful wooded area on the quiet side of Acadia. It was not far to the major attractions in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Comfortable, clean space. There really isn’t a kitchen - no stove or sink, but there is a microwave, coffee pot and you can wash dishes in bathroom sink. There is a fridge. It had everything we needed since we were not cooking - just reheating. Lots of information sent ahead by the owners. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed Aug 24, 2024The property was absolutely perfect for our trip, the apartment was meticulously clean, located close to lots of great food, and extremely close to Acadia. The apartment itself was easy to find, spacious, and homey. The beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed to feel comfortable! The microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker all came in handy too. JF gave lots of helpful recommendations. Just a note, there's a gravel driveway leading up to the parking area, so don't be surprised! We loved walking around the property by the stream and kayaking on the lake. Super convenient to access the kayaks!

Stayed Aug 8, 2024Rustic little gem. Beds were comfortable. Sits on wooded area that was very inviting. Utilized the kayaks in a lake that is walking distance. Very much enjoyed our stay. Only thing I could possibly complain about is the chairs in the sitting area are not very comfortable. Our host was very kind, helpful and informative of the area, as we went to Acadia National park.

Stayed Jul 22, 2024Great homebase for hiking Acadia. Family (2 parents, 13 year old and 11 year old) stayed for 3 nights. It was a great spot for the quiet side of the island but still easily accessible to the locations we wanted to go in Acadia. We prepared quick/easy breakfasts in the rental, packed a lunch and were on our way. We typically got dinner out but the rental is equipped with a grill, if desired, or possibly bring an electric griddle with you. JF and Sue were wonderfully accommodating hosts, available for information as need but not overbearing.

Stayed Jul 28, 2024JF is a great host. Great to interact with and lots of advice. Basement apartment works well with a king and single bed in one bedroom and a queen and top bunk bed in a second bedroom plus microwave, decent sized fridge, coffee maker, dishes, and grille by the picnic table. His property is a lot of fun for kids. Our boys loved playing croquet and bacci ball and loved the big swing in the tree. We didn’t even have time to take advantage of the kayaks or enjoying the wooded areas by the stream. Quiet but convenient location on the island about 15-20 minutes at most to anywhere. Definitely recommend!

Stayed Jul 12, 2024Quiet forested location away from the crowds, but the central location made it a great home base and it was quick and easy to get to either side of the island. The hosts were welcoming and quick to respond to messages. We stayed here with our 1 year old daughter and our close friends that we were traveling with. Our only regret is that we weren't there long enough to take advantage of the lake access.

The beds were comfortable and the place was outfitted with all the necessities for an extended stay. The property was quiet and peaceful. There was access to Long Pond across the street from the property and a sandy beach swimming hole about a 200 yard walk down the street.
