Scott, Louisiana
Unique New Orleans style studio apartment located on the grounds of the Old Bank of Scott that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property is right off of Interstate 10 and great a overnight stop for travelers. Downtown Lafayette is just minutes away. There is easy access to this downstairs unit from the street or courtyard. This cozy studio has a fully furnished kitchenette, dining table to seat 4, queen bed and two small sofas in the living room area with antenna SMART TV with Netflix among other options. The art work and decor in this place is unique and definitely worth a peek!! You can walk across the street to visit the local art galleries, grab breakfast at the Coffee Depot right across the railroad tracks or shop at Revival Antiques that is a hot spot for tourists! Convenient and safe off street parking is available.
The space was perfect for my husband and me. Each area - kitchen/dining, living/television, bedroom and bathroom - was uniquely independent. The art work was striking. Unfortunately, it was too hot for us to use the small lush courtyard but the view from inside was very appealing. Jared made sure we had proper directions and Robert met us when we arrived. The National Park Service’s Jean Lafitte Acadian Cultural Center is a must-see. It is free and tells a full history of the Acadians. The Coffee Depot is a fun place to start your day with breakfast.
Paul's Studio is charming and unique, full of interesting artwork & furniture. It is spacious, especially when you take into account the lovely courtyard. The kitchen is well-stocked with fun dishes. The host could not have been more gracious and generous, allowing us to have a fairly large gathering while we were there, even providing a bottle of wine to keep us from having to go out on our late arrival. The location is great, close to a good coffee/breakfast place & a great restaurant & not far from several grocery stores, yet with a small-town feel not far from Lafayette. But bring your earplugs, there is a railroad track and main street nearby. There's nothing the owner can do about that, but it unfortunately did lower my rating.
We flew in late to Lafayette airport and owner kept an eye open and came out to welcome us at 11pm. Lovely, well equipped and stylishly decorated studio apartment. There is a secluded courtyard out back which was perfect for chilling and getting over jet lag. Great little coffee shop just a block away for breakfast. Only down was that as it is an apartment, noise can be heard from upstairs despite the neighbour's best efforts.
