Summary:

Trade the long drive to the beach for a few steps to the sand at picturesque Wailua Bay. This remodeled ground-floor studio at Islander on the Beach sleeps four and gives your Kauai days an easy beginning, with a private ocean-view lanai, a plush king bed, a pull-out couch, and a sleek walk-in shower. The kitchenette is ready for breakfast and beach snacks with a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, blender, mini fridge, and kitchenware. After exploring, grill dinner on the shared BBQs or head to the resort's beachside pool and hot tub. Coconut Marketplace is close for a meal or supplies, and the Wailua River is nearby for kayaking under the trees or heading inland toward waterfalls. With a single-level, step-free layout and plenty of comfort packed in, it is a great choice for a couple or small family who wants the beach close and the island open. Air conditioning is provided.

The Space:

A full remodel gives this ground-floor studio a crisp, comfortable feel, led by a king bed, pull-out couch, and sleek walk-in shower. The kitchenette includes a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, blender, mini fridge, and kitchenware for easy meals. Step outside to the private ocean-view lanai, or use the step-free layout to come and go easily after time at the beach or pool.

Guest Access:

Guests at Islander on the Beach have access to the shared outdoor pool, hot tub, BBQ grill area, and beach access. The resort grounds provide easy outdoor space to relax between beach outings.

The Neighborhood:

Wailua Bay and Kapaa's Coconut Coast offer a quieter, more local way into Kauai. Coconut Marketplace is close for coffee, casual dining, shops, and groceries, while the Ke Ala Hele Makalae path nearby is a beautiful place to walk or bike along the ocean. Wailua River is nearby for kayaking, and Opaekaa Falls is an easy drive inland. Kapaa town has food trucks, bakeries, and small shops worth seeking out. Staying here also gives you a central jump-off point for Lihue, the North Shore, and the lush interior of the island.

Getting Around:

Kapaa sits along Kauai's Royal Coconut Coast, about 15 to 20 minutes from Lihue Airport. A rental car is recommended for exploring the island, though the main strip along Kuhio Highway is walkable, with beaches, shops, restaurants, and the popular coastal path all within easy reach on foot. Grocery stores and casual dining are close by. Parking is generally available at condos and along the street, making this an easy, low stress base.

Other Things to Note:

This property is managed by Heavenly Vacations.

The pool and spa will temporarily be closed from 10/26-11/04 for major repairs.

Our local Heavenly Vacations Kauai team is just a call or message away throughout your stay. We are always happy to share our favorite places to enjoy on the Garden Isle, and we are here to help right away should any issue arise. We respect your privacy and are here whenever you need us.

We did not interact with local staff too much, but all were great and the location amenities were top notch for us. The room had a few issues such as an odor in the closet...we did not use it because of that. A bit of mold around the shower. The Location is the best with many shops, eateries and a short drive to more of all you could possibly need. The drives to either side of the island are short and tourist sites are easy access from here. We listened to the surf every night as we drifted off to sleep on a really fine mattress.

As the ad says, it's an unobstructed 50 feet to the beach, 50 feet also to Lava Lava bar & restaurant. A few shops and restaurants on the Aston property, and across the parking lot is Coconut Marketplace with more restaurants and shops. I recommend Kapaa/Wailua for location: lots to do here and equidistant to north and south shores.

The host mgmt company (Vacasa) was very good with communications. There was an issue with the A/C at the unit and they arranged to have it fixed and kept their promised timeline. The unit is steps to the beach, and next door to the Lava Lava restaurant which was convenient. The walking/biking path, also steps away, makes for convenient strolls along the ocean. The complex is next to the Coconut Marketplace making for a very short walk to it with all its shops and a general store that has an excellent deli with cold and hot foods available. We have stayed at the Islander on the Beach complex before (in a different unit) and returned again because of the location and its convenience. We would stay at this unit again and we will if it is available at the time we return to Kauai in the future.

The location of this property is just perfect! The amenities provided a relaxing and comfortable stay. The host was wonderful to work with and was extra accommodating when unexpected cancelled flights changed our trip. We would love to stay here again one day and will be telling our friends all about it!

With the ac broke in January I thought the issue was fixed. The room was left with fans and with the rain drying the room was impossible and sleep was not restful. We had two fans in room with one in the bathroom. The only room that was tolerable was the bathroom. The springs on the foldout were rusted so it was noisy when rolling over so woke others. The toilet handle had to always be jiggled or it would run after use (an annoying sound along with all the fans!). Location was great- right next to the beach and host brought another fan when one was broke. Just wasn’t as restful as hoped.

Internet was terrible and kept going off even after it was fixed, so the TV kept going out and phones had no wifi. Access to beach was great. Air conditioner was out when we got there and management knew that is was broken but didn't say anything or offer us anything. When we complained, they came out and fixed it. Pretty disappointing.

Our first (bucket list) trip to Hawaii and loved this wonderful first floor condo, literally steps to the beach, and in a lovely maintained and beautifully landscaped complex (Islander on the Beach). Unit 164 was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved the pool (perfect temp) and hot tub. The proximity of a grocery store, and other shops within walking distance was nice, too. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this unit and complex again if we are ever fortunate enough to make another trip to Kauai!

We loved that this unit was steps from the beach & Lava Lava Beach Club! Our family of 4 (toddler & baby) fit perfectly in here — it was pretty spacious for a studio. Everything was clean & we had all amenities we needed. Such a great bang for the buck here, we’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful property right on the water. We could walk 50 feet and be in the ocean! Pool and grounds were awesome! And this condo was super close to shopping and restaurants. Easy drive to the North shore or the South shore.

We stayed 2 weeks. The unit looks better in person than the pictures. It really is just steps to a beach. The beach in winter at least had some pretty decent waves hitting the near shore reef and made it not super safe to swim but decent snorkeling. Our only issues with the property were issues with the AC not working (it would shut off or bot engage the condenser) and tight (limited #) parking.
