2 Fairfax Place is a stylishly modernised second-floor apartment in one of Dartmouth's most-characterful buildings. Sympathetically renovated to showcase its historic charms, there's also smart-home technology to control everything from the heating to entertainment. The partially stained-glass ceiling-height windows bathe the rooms in light and reflect the unique façade of this imposing, listed Victorian building. Great for romantic getaways, ideal for families and friends. A parking permit is provided.


Accommodation:

The lovely hallway of this second-floor apartment opens into the combined kitchen-dining room and lounge. The kitchen area combines the original stained-glass windows with modern décor, including coloured downlights from the marble-effect kitchen island and heated oak floors. It's well-equipped with an electric range, induction hob, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine (capsules not provided), and a wall-mounted TV - ideal for hosting a dinner party or equally a quiet night in.

The light, bright lounge includes a smart TV, a large corner sofa and a winged-back chair - ample seating for a cosy movie night

There are two bedrooms: The master kingsize bedroom; and a second bedroom, which has two single beds which can be configured into a kingsize bed on request.

The bathroom is finished to a very high standard with a freestanding bath, a heated towel rail and a separate shower with an oversized 'rainforest' shower head. There is a separate toilet located further down the main hall.

Google Nest hubs can be found in both bedrooms and the kitchen to access the voice-activated Internet Assistant.

Heating is provided by electric heaters and underfloor heating.

Please note: there are small steps inside the building's main front door, then 35 stairs to the apartment. There is no elevator.


Parking:

A car park permit is provided for unrestricted access to the Mayors Avenue Car Park, which is a one-minute walk away. The permit does not guarantee a parking space, and it can get very busy during the summer and special events, such as the Royal Regatta week (during which the car park is closed). A parking permit is provided for the Mayors Avenue Car Park, which is a 5-minute walk away. Please note the Parking permits are now only valid in Mayors Avenue Car park between 3pm and 10am between 25th of May and 1st September. During this time guests would have to use the park and ride at the top of the town.

    The location of the property was perfect. The apartment was decorated in a contemporary style with original artwork which was very attractive. There were however a few maintenance issues which have been forwarded on.

    We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year and enjoyed using the light, bright kitchen/dining area. The rainfall shower was also very pleasant. We had difficulties with some of the heating controls initially and had one issue re towel rail in the bathroom that was quickly resolved. We didn’t find the sofa particularly comfortable and the position of this didn’t make for easy TV viewing. The kitchen would benefit from more equipment such as a decent set of knives, scissors and mixing bowls. A towel rail in the WC would be useful.

    Wonderful space, location and access to Dartmouth. We had a wonderful time. The playgrounds, shops and bookstores were all within 5-10 minutes walk and the apartment was light and airy. A great time.

    Plus points - Fantastic location Spacious kitchen Big bathroom Negatives- No storage despite there being enough space to put it in. Lived out of suitcases for entire stay. Windows and fittings need repairing asap as they are in a bad state and dangerous. Bad sewage smell in hallway. Shower too low and the shower head leaks. Bath great but can’t put much water in before the hot water runs out. Toilet too close to sink, needs moving across. Bed too short and very poor quality. Light switches wired the wrong way. Carpet in main bedroom is a trip hazard Needs shutters or curtains in kitchen as the whole street looks in . Nearly all these can be rectified easily. It gives an impression of a lack of attention to detail. As long as the photos look good the rest didn’t matter. It could easily be so much better.

    The pictures are just as you would expect to find, a fantastic apartment in the heart of Dartmouth with everything in walking distance. The kitchen in particular is a lovely social space with the facilities all really well maintained. Great communication from the Dart Valley Team, easy to find and use everything and the permit such a bonus, especially as it is getting very busy into holiday season. The only slight niggle was pillows were all quite hard / high which wasn't the most comfortable, especially for our young daughter, but it's all personal preference on a pillow! The sofa is really comfy but could be done with securing into place as the long end side always pops away when you sit on it. Minor issues and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

    The flat was well located for exploring Dartmouth and the nearby area. Parking was no problem either. The flat had everything you’d need for a great stay, loads of space in the kitchen and a comfy living room.

    We had a lovely stay over bank holiday weekend at Fairfax Place, we know Dartmouth well and we loved the central location of the property. The apartment is clean and well equipped and very comfortable. There are a number of steps up to the apartment, which we knew about, but would not be suitable for people with mobility issues. Highly recommended.

    We loved staying in Fairfax Place. The location was perfect for a car free weekend and the apartment beautifully furnished. Light and airy the property of was very spacious but cosy at the same time. We will definitely be returning.
