Ketchikan, Alaska
Guests will have a memorable vacation in this charming, fully furnished, recently remodeled studio. The one bath apartment sleeps two comfortably and is cozy for up to four people. The kitchen is supplied with everything needed to cook a full meal. The semi-private sleeping area hosts a queen-sized Tuft & Needle mattress, while the living space is furnished with a queen-sized sleeper sofa.
Situated on a hillside in midtown, guests will enjoy the pleasant breakfast nook with a scenic view of the Tongass Narrows, where water transport activity is in full swing year round with float planes, ferries, barges, fishing boats and add cruise ships in the summer months, all navigating their way through the channel. Later watch the sunset from the generous deck off the main entrance of the apartment, and if you're lucky, catch a glimpse of local wildlife grazing in front of the house. Onsite parking.
Walking distance to downtown via picturesque Water Street or the main drag, Tongass Highway. The studio is close to grocery shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, the library, recreational center, and hospital. Both the Airport and Ferry terminal are within about one mile from the apartment. The local bus picks up and drops off just a block away.
Spend the day away, admiring nearby attractions including flightseeing trips to Misty Fjords and other local hideaways, Alaska Native totem parks, the Lumber Jack Show, rent bikes, go kayaking, zip lining, bear watching, charter fishing, hike or check out the beaches, and gallery shop for local art.
Property is clean & close to downtown. Wonderful view of the ocean where cruise ships pass & seaplanes land/takeoff.
This studio was perfect for our family of four. It was clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. Even the pull out couch was a great place to crash for our two kids. We cooked several meals in the kitchen, so that was useful as well. You can get to downtown easily via a 15 minute walk or the free shuttle that travels downtown from the nearby mall. All of this was great, but the most redeeming quality of this place is the view. The picture provided doesn't do it justice. I found myself constantly looking out the window to take in float planes taking off and landing in the channel. We ate outside on the porch every chance we had. As we dined, we watched bald eagles float by or a distant thunderstorm produce lightning over the mountains. It was magical. This is definitely a special place.
For a small space the apartment is packed with essentials and charm. The view from the bay window and the deck is one of downtown Ketchikan's finest. Also happens to be minutes from most amenities like grocery store and coffee shops. Laura was so very hospitable, too!
Great location. Comfortable setting. Nice little kitchen. On a hill so you get a view. Friendly owner. No TV. The deadbolt uses a code and is a pain to operate. Had to get help from owner first night because I couldn't get it open. Next day it was raining sideways as we tried for 5 minutes to get the door open. We ended up leaving the door unlocked after that instead of fighting with it.
I didn’t notice there was no TV but owner did provide TV and DVD after I let her know I thought there was a TV.
Perfect for our small family.
This property was a great small apartment space. Clean and perfect location. Laura was great to work with and helpful when we had a question upon arrival. Thank you for sharing your home with us!! ?
Nice view except powerlines in front
Laura’s place is real cozy and comfortable. She was great at making sure we had what needed and was very easy to get a hold of whenever we needed something
Laura and her studio we’re both even better than expected . We’ve rented a lot of vrbo and Airbnb etc and have never experienced a more attentive and caring property owner . Five stars is not enough . Thank you very much ??
This cute little studio was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped(though a pizza cutter would be a nice addition?). There is a Safeway not far away and this allowed us to eat all of our breakfasts and most of our dinners at the rental. The main bed was comfy and even the sofa sleeper was decent. Our only small complaint was the noise level from the owners upstairs home. Most times it was noticeable, but okay and mostly footsteps. One evening there was obviously a family gathering and the noise level was challenging. The owner was good about making sure things were quiet by 9:30-10:00 so there were no issues with getting a good night sleep. Loved the island and all in all had a great experience.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The property wasn’t large but they’ve used the space really well and our family of four never felt cramped. There were lots of nice touches like local coffee and a fan for warm evenings.
Laura's studio apartment was a perfect place to stay during our visit with our son who resides in Ketchikan. Located close to the heart of Ketchikan, it has an amazing view of the waterways and all the amenities we needed to make our time with our son a very memorable vacation.
The view was great and the apartment was very clean and well stocked . It was very comfortable and we loved the little nook with the view of the channel. We had a wonderful time there.
