Tourism in Quindío

Mall of Open Skies, is a walking environment that connects the northern sector of the city with the downtown area. It was achieved with the pedestrianization of race 14 from 12th Street to 22nd Street.

Open Skies Shopping Center, downtown.

Quimbaya Gold Museum, north of the city
Quimbaya Gold Museum. Located to the north of the city, it offers visitors an excellent assembly of its archaeological collection corresponding to the pre-Hispanic zone of Middle Cauca. The Museum, designed by the architect Rogelio Salmona, is the National Architecture Award of the 1986-87 Biennial and has a declaration of Cultural Interest of the Nation.
Mirador de la 19 or de la Secreta, The great Ecological Park of the Secret, constituted by the Armenia geological fault, runs from race 18 to the Quindío river, crossing the city from the south to the center. It is a fauna and flora reserve where the municipal coso and the Zoonosis Center works.
Don Nicolás Suspension Bridge. One of the most beautiful suspension bridges in Quindío is Don Nicolás, on the Quindío River, on the former route of the 14th race of Armenia in a north-south direction, below the Uribe Park. This bridge was initially built by the neighbors, including Don Vespasiano Jaramillo and Don Luis Hoyos. They made a bridge with steel cables and native tree boards that was replaced by a larger one designed by German engineer Guillermo Ledher, by mandate of the Caldas government. This is the same bridge that, refurbished and adjusted, communicates today with Armenia with Calarcá and retains the name of Don Nicolás.
Canyoning It is a local sculptural technique on earth that looks out into a space from a viewpoint ravine, created by a worker in the municipality, Efrén Fernández Barón, with great qualities and an enormous sculptural vocation. In that ravine the artist, with palín and regatón in hands, is elaborating figures, almost all characteristics of the pre-Columbian cultures, that later covers with cement and sand passed through water. What was in ancient times a form of indigenous expression is today an important milestone of urban art in Armenia. Today you can see three great works of this nature in Armenia, because seven more that were in different parts of the city have disappeared for different reasons. The first is at the entrance to the city by the east, María Cristina neighborhood. It is called thought dialogues. They are figures of pre-Columbian men and women welcoming and saying goodbye to people. But at the same time they have something cosmic, like the third eye, and a deep relationship with love. The second is the Allegory of water, located on Avenida Bolívar, in the ravine of the Regivit power station. There are mountains there where the water falls, a human figure that symbolizes the god Mountain, an Indian who collects water on a banana leaf, a peasant who does the same but in a guadua and the trunk and ax, symbols of the city, surrounded by the modern aqueduct. And the third sculpture is on Avenida Ancízar López López, it is an allegory to Armenia, where pre-Columbian figures, masks, eagle tufts, poporos, alligators, a silhouette of the city's cathedral church and what the author also appear called a cosmic cry, given by a man in defense of the earth. The sculptor, Efrén Fernández Barón, works tirelessly to leave the city with a large number of works of this type, but he also prepares a Barranquismo school so that the technique does not disappear.

Train station.
Train station. The old railway station was built between 1927 and 1930 to house the administration, archives, statistics, offices and warehouses of the Colombian National Railways, Pacific Railroad, Armenia-Cali-Buenaventura and Armenia-Nacederos branches. It is preserved in 90% of its original construction. In its main rooms the capitals, the doors and windows built in wrought iron stand out. The decoration of its floors, especially at the main entrance has an allegory of the Republican era, as well as the two large central doors, also of iron with rivets. The terrace is adorned in its corners with concrete and plaster snails.
The building was declared by the National Council of Monuments as National Heritage in the year of 1989. It is made in a neoclassical style of the Republican period and retains some gargoyles that represent animals. It no longer provides the service of railway station, but of public library and headquarters of some dependencies of the municipal government. Also called Centro Cultural Metropolitano La Estación, it is one of the most symbolic constructions in Armenia for its republican style and the good state of the structure. This work is located in Carrera 19A No. 29-30
