Stayed Feb 11, 2018As reported by a another traveller there is a very strong smell of heating oil in the apartment. When entering the apartment, the smell is strongest, but after a few minutes we would just get used to it. Initially we thought these were smells from cleaning / detergents, but we realised after a while that this was heating oil smells. We came back yesterday and all our equipment needs to be washed. The apartment is quite well equipped with kitchen utensils and appliances such as coffee machine or raclette machine. Some of appliances are quite old and therefore, not in the top shape. It spacious enough for a family with two small children and overall, nothing serious to reproach (apart from smell). The apartment is located in a village great for cross-country skiing and we've had a wonderful week skiing in the forest in Risoult and some neighbouring villages. Having small children, it was very useful to have the car, as the location is too far and unpractical in snowy conditions for them to walk / ski to the center of the station or to the shops. The Ski bus seems useful but it is not clear where the bus stop is and the hours are quite scarce. The tracks in Risoult are not easily accessible for small children (long steep slope to access), but our children had ski lessons with ESF during the which we would drive up to les Combettes and start skiing there. There is a numbers of good museums / attractions to visit around Bois d'Amont (Musee de la Boisselerie), les Rousses (Caves d'affinage de Comté) and Premanon (Exposition des espaces polaires). They were very interesting for our children and provided quiet activities around the skiing. Espace Marmouset is around 700m from the apartment and provides 100/150m of downhill for children on skis (with ski pass) or sledge (free). Bois d'Amont has few shops / restaurants / facilities, but Les Rousses has more pubs and restaurants and is just 8km away. We would definitively recommend this apartment to cross-country skiers, provided the smells are fixed. If with children, they must either be able to ski 1.5km both ways to the station, or you should be fine with using the car regularly. We would have put 4 stars if it wasn't for the smells.

Stayed Oct 21, 2016The apartment is located underneath the main house with it's own private entrance. Fully self contained, private & peaceful. The owner is very friendly & always made sure that I had everything I needed & was on call if I had any questions. Thank-you kindly for your hospitality !
