House with garden and porch 100 meters from the sea, free and equipped beach

5 of us stayed in the house which was spacious enough for us. It is well equipped, we had everything what we needed. The beds were comfy, the rooms were nice and clean. The beach is not even 2 minutes walk, and there are good restaurants and shop in 10 minutes walk. The best part of the house was the big balcony.

The apartments are actually in Porto Frailis (just between Tortoli & Arbatax). There is a beach at Porto Frailis just 2 or 3 minutes away from the apartments and about a 15 minute drive away there is a vast expanse of sand at Lido di Orri. For the best snorkelling take a boat trip from either Arbatax or Santa Maria Navarrese. There is a small supermarket within Porto Frialis - just a short walk from the apartments - in Tortoli (a short drive away) there are a number of large supermarkets - so self catering is quite easy. Also within walking distance there are a number of restaurants: try Lucitta - it's a bit expensive but very good. There are a number of apartments here - four on the ground floor and (I think) four in the basement - but it is not a block, it could just be one very large villa. The gardens are pretty and very well tended. Our apartment had two balconies, one of which caught the sun in time for breakfast and (to a lesser extent) at lunchtime - coming from England in May that was bliss. We've only been back a week but we are on the verge of booking again for next year.

NiuMiu Case Vacanze offers very nice apartments, most of which have a terrace and garden (except for those cheaper apartments in the basement). Everything is straightforward: the apartments are clean, comfortable and equipped with all that a family needs for a seaside holiday (incl. a barbecue grill). We were 6 adults/teenagers + 1 baby and we fit into the Grecale apartment without problems. The garden is a real asset (and even offers an extra shower connected to an olive tree...). The owners' family is extremely friendly and helpful. When the apartment's fridge stopped working one day, they replaced it within an hour. The accommodation is still fairly new. The location is great: the Porto Frailis beach 100-200m away is good enough; another sandy beach is 10 min. walk away; the Lido di Orri can be reached by a municipal bus departing from the nearby Arbatax Park resort 3 times each morning (with return trips in the afternoon). A Conad/Margherite grocery store is some 7 min. from the apartment on foot. Moreover you can walk to the Arbatax port in about 20 minutes and go on those wonderful boat excursions to beaches hidden in the Gulf of Orosei (the best of which are Cala Mariolu and Cala dei Gabbiani). Also, the Green train (departing from the station in the Arbatax port every day except Tue at 8am) offers beautiful views, though some of its stops are in the middle of nowhere and it's not a good idea to do this train trip with little kids or people who get unwell easily. Overall, the NiuMiu apartments of the Usai family can only be recommended as a base for a beautiful Sardinian holiday. A car is only needed to get there and from there comfortably, but it is not indispensable during the actual stay.
