This place is a total gem. The cottage is well-appointed and roomy while the surrounding area is lush and well-maintained. Loved going to sleep with the windows open, listening to the sounds of flowing water and frogs. Listening to the afternoon/evening Hilo rains was nothing short of magical. So glad we booked this lovely place instead of staying at one of the local hotels.
Perfect off the beaten path experience. Scott and Jean are terrific hosts with an amazingly private building with waterfall views and full nature sounds at night. Exceptional stay.
We loved this place. The setting couldn't have been more beautiful, the home was very clean and spacious for a small space. The hosts are interesting people and we regretted not having more time to talk with them, but we stayed on a busy schedule. Which made it wonderful and relaxing to get home to the yurt. We could hear the stream and it was terrific to be able to live and sleep with the windows open to nature and the views. Would definitely stay again.
This studio is perfect for those who are looking for a get away and some peace and quiet. We were initially concerned about not having AC, but it gets quite cool at night and we had no problems, the fan was enough to keep us cool at night. It is close enough to drive into downtown Hilo or make day trips to other areas, but the drive to the unit can be a little difficult late at night in the dark. Overall the property is beautiful and was very relaxing.
Clean, quiet, and private. Very relaxing stay away from downtown.
A beautiful octagonal shaped out building with stunning views. Spotlessly clean and well appointed. Would definitely stay there again.
The cottage was everything we expected and more. Host was very accommodating & responsive. Highly recommend for couple to stay here. Peaceful, restful & beautiful!!
We enjoyed our stay here near Hilo. A clean, comfortable and well equipped place to stay. We easily traveled to nearby waterfalls, beaches and the Botanical Garden. Restaurants and the Hilo Farmers Market were nearby. The Market was the best on the Island. We easily found the rental and check-in was quick with no problems. I would love to return!
Our Hilo side stay at this property was fine. The location was perfect. We wanted a break from the busy Kona side and this was perfect. Very quiet and comfortable. We traveled to the volcano, the gardens, waterfalls, and beaches. The only crowds were at the volcano. At one beach we saw turtles and whales and watched them for 2 hours. Very nice!
We loved our stay! It was cute, clean, and cozy—beautiful location and excellent service from the renters. I would recommend this place to anyone thinking about it.
We stayed here in December and it was a cozy spot but found it too far out for our liking and lacking in amenities. You have to drive a good 15 minutes up a narrow, winding road and we didn't want to drive it at night, so came prepared to cook our meals. Unfortunately the kitchen was barely stocked and we only had a beer fridge to store food. I found that I had to improvise a lot when trying to cook our meals as I didn't have the tools I needed. I've stayed in many condos/vacation rentals and just found that this unit didn't anticipate their guests needs (candle holders but no candles, spice jars with no spices??). There's a beautiful view out the window but you can't even enjoy it from your own deck (they have a picnic table under their deck but it didn't feel private and it sits on rocks). Unfortunately not what we were hoping for.
Scott and Jean are down to earth responsive and awesome hosts! The cottage was clean, cozy, comfortable, private and peaceful. If we come back to the big island this is where we will stay. Access to laundry services on the property was most appreciated!
The property is lovely and the space is clean, unique and so amazing to hear the rain at nice. So much nicer and safer than Hilo itself. So glad we stayed here. Thank you ❤️
We loved our stay at this property. It was secluded but easy to get to. It was so magical to just look out into the quiet darkness and listen to the tree frogs. Everything was clean and comfortable, and we would definitely stay here again if come back to Hilo!
My new wife and I had a lovely stay on this rural Hawaiian farm. We were greeted upon entering with a bottle of wine on account of our Honeymoon. This small gesture set the tone for the hospitality we continued to receive throughout our stay. The yurt/hut was cozy, private, and clean with good wifi and full kitchen. I would suggest bringing earbuds if you are a light sleeper as the frogs were quite loud (my wife thought they were nice ambience, to each their own). This spot served as a great launch pad for our explorations to Hilo and Volcano National Park. The owner Scott even took the time to give us a tour of the farm, that flowed into life advice and an all around great conversation. A big thanks to Scott and Jean as this property was all we could have hoped for. The only thing this spot was lacking would be a porch on the backside to enjoy the view with our morning coffee (food for thought, Scott for your next expansion :P). Thanks again!
Loved how quiet the area was. Fell asleep to the sounds of a running stream and coqui frogs singing in harmony. The temperature was nice and cool since you’re up in the mountains. Will definitely stay here again!
