Beautiful remote location off the beaten path for ultimate relaxation. The kids loved feeding the cows each morning, and the farm fresh eggs were a treat. Mahalo for sharing your ranch!

This was a fantastic stay and added something special to our vacation. If you’re looking for a typical hotel experience, move on, but if you’re looking for something a little different, this is it. Steve and Debbie are so kind and welcoming and their set up on their ranch is great. It’s cozy and not too far away from stores and beaches. The rental has lots of extras like boogie boards, a few snorkel masks, beach towels, sand toys, etc. Their ranch has fruit trees, beautiful macaws, chickens, and very friendly cows. My kids loved picking tea leaves off the branches and feeding the cows. Steve and Debbie also have great recommendations for places to eat and things to see and do. Great stay!

We had an awesome stay at the Broken Dog Ranch. The house was roomy and comfortable and we all slept well. Loved the peaceful setting, spacious grounds, picking fruit, interacting with the animals, eating fresh eggs.... The hosts are very nice people.

This property has an excellent location! After a busy day of adventures it is a wonderful quiet location. The owners have chickens and fruit trees. There were a dozen eggs waiting for us when we arrived and we picked oranges and limes! The owners were awesome and the property is beautiful!

The property served as an ideal home base for our party of five adults. We stayed three nights to explore the east side of the island - all major attractions and sites (VNP, Waipio Valley, Rainbow Falls) were within easy driving distance. The space was clean and spacious and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We loved interacting with the animals on-site, especially the macaw. Overall, a very peaceful and pleasant stay, and we would love to return to the property again when we visit the Big Island!

Will definitely stay here again. Location is tranquil and beautiful. I can’t get over the view of this place. It was our first time in Hawaii, they were the best host ever. My kid loved seeing all the animals. We got to feed the cows. We got to pick some lemons, calamansi etc. They even offered us fresh eggs from their chickens. I wished we could’ve extended our stay.

My family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. The Ohana dwelling had everything we needed and was very clean. We appreciated Debbie sharing some of the fresh chicken eggs. We didn't get to enjoy the surroundings too much, thanks to Hurricane Hone. We will definitely look to stay here on our next visit to Hilo.

Debbie and Steve were very welcoming. Debbie welcomed us as we got to the property. They shared their knowledge of the area and their fruits and fresh eggs. The home is beautiful! It was so relaxing! It’s cooler than in town and quiet. No city noise. We will definitely stay again, if we make it back.

My only regret in staying here is that we didn't book an extra day! I foolishly thought we would be here just to sleep but the home and area was so welcoming, that we ended up lounging around the house instead of doing our planned activities. Don't let the lack of reviews here affect your decision in booking. Debbie and Steve have over a hundred 5-star reviews on another rental booking site. And as a recent guest at their place, I can absolutely confirm that those starts and reviews are indeed well deserved!! Not a reflection of the host and home, albeit more so of my own personal level of comfort, but my only recommendation for potential guests would be that if you are able to, arrive during daylight hours to get familiar with the drive to the home's location. We arrived at check in time to unload our luggage and then drove back to Hilo town for errands and dinner. Navigating my way back to the home at night was easier, since I had done it earlier in the day.

Our stay was very relaxing. The drive to the house from Hilo town is about 15-20 minutes. Its pretty high up the hillside. The air is crips and very cool. The house was clean and beautiful, equipped with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. We had great sleeps for the 2 nights we were there. We picked fresh limes from the yard to squeeze onto our papaya we picked up from the Hilo open market. A real plus was being able to interact with the animals. My 7 year old granddaughter had a great time feeding the Parrot, the cows, chickens, and petting the friendly dogs. Steve and Debbie were very kind and hospitable, we shared stories, they share fresh eggs with us for our breakfast, oranges from the trees on the property, and were so kind to our granddaughter. I enjoyed sitting in the front of the rental bird watching. Saw several different types of birds, but was mesmerized watching the 'Io (Hawaiian Hawk) glide and hover over the neighbors property. I highly recommend staying here, and have already put in our request to stay next year.

Very tranquil property & hosts were very welcoming. Off the beaten path a little outside Hilo but that was exactly what we were looking for.
