We look forward to welcoming you to the Big Island of Hawaii. The Ocean View Tropical Ranch provides a private vacation retreat with all the comforts of home for visitors and travelers to the Big Island of Hawaii seeking an alternative to the 'resort' atmosphere, where you won’t feel like a tourist.

Our Ocean View Tropical Ranch is a luxurious 2-bedroom, 1 full bath resort-style guest house located in one of Hilo’s premier subdivisions. Our guest house is truly a tropical paradise with a very spacious living area. The guest house covered lanai opens to a beautiful manicured 5 acres of mesmerizing views of pastureland merging with the endless expanse of the ocean, commanding jaw-dropping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Hilo Bay, and the stunning coastline. The guest house offers a lifestyle that embraces both country living and the conveniences of being in town.

The guest house features a fully equipped kitchen (including an electrical range, rice cooker, blender, toaster, coffee maker, washer and dryer, cooking utensils, etc.), a queen-size pull-out sofa bed, high-speed internet, and a 70” LCD High-Definition TV with Hulu live TV, Hulu on demand, ESPN, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. The larger bedroom is equipped with a comfortable King Size bed and a 58” High-Definition equipped with Hulu live TV, Hulu on demand, ESPN, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. The second bedroom is equipped with a comfortable Queen Size bed and a 32” TV equipped with Hulu live TV, Hulu on demand, ESPN, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. The guest house is also equipped with smart locks, smart smoke/carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, and baby proof outlet covers (available when needed). Finally, for guests travelling with babies and infants, we offer a clean and extremely well-maintained Pack-N-Play with removable changing stations and napper.

The guest house has its own private entrance, parking, and it is protected with 24/7 security monitoring for the protection of our guest and our property (there are no cameras inside the guest house).

The guest house is located on a private road approximately three miles from downtown Hilo. It's more than a beautiful place to stay, it’s a lifestyle. You'll experience charming “Old Hawaii” where life is slow and easy. Our property allows you to relax in style or pursue a variety of adventures right outside. The landscaped grounds and naturalistic setting capture the tranquility and beauty of the islands where travelers can relax and experience the true Hawaii where the locals live.

Your host resides in the main house of the property and will personally greet you and handle your personalized access when you arrive. Your host will answer questions you may have, assist you with any special needs and help you plan your stay. Your host is also happy in sharing tips on where to visit, how to get there, where to lunch and favorite local dining spots.

The property is within walking distance of a very picturesque area of East Hawaii surrounded by streams, waterfalls and off a quiet street perfect for walking or jogging. A private serene open to views of the garden with beautiful ocean view below for ultimate relaxation. Our Retreat is a perfect Hawaiian getaway for couples celebrating their special occasion and is centrally located making it an ideal home base while exploring exotic points of interest on the island.

Hilo is famous for its warm aloha spirit, relaxed lifestyle, unique shops, art galleries and restaurants with local regional cuisine. Local attractions include Lyman Museum, East Hawaii Cultural Center, historic Palace Theatre, Pacific Tsunami Museum, Imiloa Astronomy Center, UH Hilo Performing Arts Center and Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens. Hilo Farmer's Market is a favorite for fresh, local produce. The Merrie Monarch Festival, Hilo's premier hula competition, and cultural events are held annually in April. East Hawaii's black sand beaches and freshwater pools are some of the bests for snorkeling, diving, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming with turtles and tropical fish, or watching the whales offshore. Take a helicopter volcano tour or a short scenic drive to active Kilauea volcano to view a lava flow, ride horses in Waipio Valley or tour the summit and view the night skies of Mauna Kea.

This is a beautiful, spacious country side property. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a complete spice rack, olive oil, some coffee, sweetener packets and creamer. Liked the 2 queen beds (one sofa bed) and a king. Most places here have full instead of queen. Bath was well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Shower floor was non-slip. Hair dryer provided. Our favorite thing was the free petting zoo. Many goats, sheep, ducks, dogs and a cat. They love people and will come up to the fence to greet you upon arrival. These guys are don't smell and they are not noisy. Something else was noisy on the first night. Every 3 seconds, ko-key, ko-key, ko-key! It was loud and seemed to be right outside our bedroom window. We asked the owners, who live next door about it. Raul and Stephanie are so wonderful and kind. Gave us earplugs and said it was a frog. The following nights, the frog could barely be heard far away. This home is very close to attractions like the Boiling Pots and Kaumana Caves. Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls are nearby. Kilauea is about an hour away. We had the live cam on You Tube running all night on the big TV, waiting for episode 33 of the Kilauea eruption. As soon as it blew, we got in the car at 3:30 am. and drove to Volcano National Park. The drive took less than an hour. For us, witnessing the eruption was a once in a lifetime experience. High recommend this property!

The stay was great, guesthouse was very clean and had everything you need. The host answered all questions right away. 15min from everything in Downtown Hilo. Only thing for me was I didn’t feel much privacy since the family is in garage connected to the house we are in and there house is right in front. But I would totally recommend.

Thank you so much for having such a beautiful space to share on top of your ocean view hill in beautiful Hilo, HI! Watching the sunrise over the ocean was very nice and being just 10-15 minutes from town with beaches, waterfalls, restaurants and grocery was so great. We enjoyed our stay immensely and thank you for being such a nice host to us. I appreciate you having a baby bath for us, laundry with detergent, drying rack, dishwasher, coffee, microwave and kitchen space so well stocked and so much more. The bathroom was great for taking care of baby baths and all the towels were very soft. We really appreciated having a washer and dryer just for us right in the house. Your bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious, love the big closets with hangers! We were so comfortable and thank you for offering this gem! Would stay again for sure! Mahalo 3

Everything about this property was absolutely amazing! I felt like I moved into an actual home just because I was able to wash and dry my clothes with accessible machines when I need to; WITH DETERGENT PROVIDED! I enjoyed that so much. I can’t wait to book this place again for future trips back to Hilo!

This house is a good home base for exploring the Hilo area. The kitchen is unusually well set up for cooking, with a standard range, lots of dishes, and even food storage containers. The little back deck has a table for six and a nice view of Hilo and the ocean. The place is very clean and the decor is modern and spare, mostly gray and white. Each room has a big screen, but there's no reading light in the smaller bedroom. The hosts' home is about 30 feet away, but they don't interact much, so this is a good place to stay if you prefer to be on your own in a two-bedroom house with a standard kitchen.

The property is beautiful and we had a very relaxing time here even though it didnt stop raining. The location was great and we were able to explore many of Hilo's attractions. I highly reccommend this property for families and couples who really want to experience the island vibe.

We loved staying at Ocean View Ranch. Far enough from Hilo to be quiet and relaxing, close enough for shopping and activities. Everything we needed was within a 15 min drive. Our favorite part was having breakfast on the lanai--cool ocean breezes, fantastic view, and goats to keep us company.

Our family of four stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the place. The house is quite spacious with two bedrooms and a large kitchen area. It also has a nice view from the porch, which can be great in the evenings. (Watch out for the aggressive rooster that wants to be fed every time you have something in the porch). The place is close to Volcanoes National Park, Hilo Bay, Rainbow Falls and the Japanese gardens. We brought some groceries and cooked and ate at the place and had a good time.I will strongly recommend this place.

The instructions were very clear for what to look for when at the home/parking and entering. We booked our stay here for the first 3 days of our vacation. We needed more rooms at the end of the week when the rest of the family was arriving so we had to move to a larger 5 bedroom house thats was horrible to say the least. We quickly called this host back and told him we wanted to come back if he still had availability and thank God he did, so we went back for the remainder of our trip and had an amazing stay. . Beautiful trees and flowers, cute baby goats and geese next door, so relaxing! I had also heard that Hilo now has areas that don't feel as safe. Not the case at all here. We felt like we were outside of the city and in a lush oasis, but it was close by Hilo with no problem at all going in for dinner, etc. This home is also closer to VolcanoNP, which we visiting one full day. The owners were are extremely responsive and very friendly. When we're back in Hilo, we'll definitely stay here again!
