I build professional tennis courts around the Caribbean. Normally, the resort where we're working provides resort accommodations for my crews. In this case, it was a private court for a luxurious home near Speightstown in Barbados, so I had to find my own accommodations. Luckily, I stumbled upon Yolande and her vacation home just minutes away. It turned out to be Everything we wanted,........very clean, comfortable, and all the amenities as promised. I highly recommend this property!!
From the moment we arrived in the early evening and we met Yolande and Gloria we knew we were in for a good time. The accommodation was just as we expected, comfortable, stylish, homely and the beds were new and very comfortable. All the white goods in the kitchen were brand new and so clean. There was a large drawer full of useful cutlery and all utensils. The china and glasses were also all new and shiny. There is a flat screen tv with many available channels. Our host was always on hand to give advice and always in a friendly manner. In fact we got on so well with her that she even took us out one day for a tour of the island and lunch out at her friends house (professional chef) which was a typical Barbadan (Bajan) meal. We thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The house is in a residential neighbourhood and full of interesting and friendly people who always asked how were we enjoying our holiday! We always felt safe no matter what time of day we were walking about (we did not hire a car as we were so near to everything). The bus stop was very close, the supermarket was closeby and the beautiful Queens Bay beach was just a 3 minute walk away. . Speightstown was just so convenient for everything! Banks, ATM's, shops, bars, restaurants (to suit every budget) and street traders selling fresh local fruit and vegetables daily. Freshly caught fish can be purchased in Speightstown also. Our nearest beach was Queens Bay which is a lovely safe, sandy beach with white sand and such safe bathing. There are some lovely upmarket houses along the beach edge and their overhanging trees gave us shade to sit under. There was also a parasol at the house for us to use. This holiday was one of the best we have had in Barbados and we have already booked again for next year. We have been eight times now to Barbados and hope to go many more times. The weather was perfect, the people so friendly and kind, and the fact that we walked everywhere meant that we did not put on too much weight!!!
