This is a very old property. Of course for the money I did expect this. Flight and a half of stairs up to rooms. Not a real two bedroom-a curtain separates bunk beds from living area. We thought there were two queens plus bunk beds (says 6 people). Under bed was dirty. Smelled and problems opening up windows when it got stuffy, warm. Cheap option for Nauvoo but for a family on the cheap. Fairies around were cute. Kitchen was clean. Had games.

The Fairy Bowery was clean and felt like home. It was so nice to be able to just relax and not worry about a long list of check out rules. We would absolutely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Host responded rapidly to communication and values constructive feedback. The unit was older and quirky but very comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed for preparing and eating our simple meals. We watched our favorite series using the HDMI cable that the host thoughtfully provided, and there was a Roku device attached, but we did not use it. WiFi had lots of bandwidth. Convenience store and Dollar General directly next door on either side, respectively. Would be a great unit for a young family on a visit to Nauvoo.

Upside: the property was very conveniently located to historic Nauvoo, easy to find, easy to park at, fit our whole family (2 adults 4 kids), & gave us a way to prepare food during our stay, so on that front it was exactly what we were looking for. Downside: cleanliness wise it felt like we may have been the first stay after the winter off season, the windows were so drafty the paper blinds would move/scrape through the night, one shower head fixture would spray water over the shower door, & there was no direct thermostat control. Bottom line: there’s a reason it was cheaper than other options in the area, & if you go in knowing that, you’ll be fine. It was a place to stay & worked fine, it just wasn’t what you call a great stay.

It was in a great location. The unit was clean but there was a heavy smell of cats. The walk-in shower would only flow for 15 seconds and would shut off. Finally discovered a weird little valve behind the shower head.

Although the bowery was warm, there was no thermostat that we could use to adjust the heat. The stairs were steeper than the picture seemed to show. But, overall, it was what we expected.

I read the reviews of others and here's my experience. I did not have any bad smells and my son (who is allergic to cats) did not have any allergy issues. It is obviously an older property, so it's not a modern, freshly painted environment. Things are obviously used, but the renters have done a good job making the space usable and feel homey. I am pretty easy to please, not a diva so the little grandma type accents I looked at as sweet and quaint. We loved that the dollar general was right behind the house, and we could walk over to Casey's and buy a drink! I'd stay there again, it was comfortable for us and I was grateful to have somewhere to stay, so thank you!

Check in was easy, location was great, and when we needed sheets and a wasp problem taken care of, communication with the host was prompt. Smelled of cats, but otherwise it worked out pretty well for our family.

The exterior stairs are narrow and there is barely room to open the door on the landing. There are more stairs on the interior where it smells of cat box. The bunk bed is not comfortable for adult bodies. We did not even try the hide a bed. I stayed but my friends went elsewhere and got a hotel room after the first night. It is clean. For me alone without being able to share the cost it was a bit more than I would have spent. Probably fine for someone with young children.

The location of this place is great for the Nauvoo pageant. Check in process was easy. The kitchen was well stocked with dishware. I wanted to give it a great review but we killed at least 20 spiders during our 3-day stay and every corner had cobwebs. The smell in the place was terrible so we bought some Febreeze and that helped a little. Overall it was quite dirty and we left a day before our stay was over.

The location was great within only a few minutes of historic Nauvoo. It was great to have kitchen amenities and it slept all 6 my family members, although the second bedroom was extremely small and my teenage boy who probably weighs around 100 pounds didn't feel like the bunkbed was strong enough to sleep him on the top. Honestly, everything was fine except the smell. It smells very strongly of cats and made the whole property feel less than clean and made it very hard to relax and enjoy our stay.

The smell of cat urine was overwhelming and we had to cancel our second night since we couldn't bear it anymore. Grateful the host refunded night 2. Had it not been for the smell we would have enjoyed our stay. Great location, clean (except for the smell), and quaint style that reflects the area. Host was responsive and allowed us to check in early due to our unexpected early arrival. I missed some of the other reviews about the smell and just went off of the reviews of 8.4 out of 10. Wished I had looked closer. If you don't mind the smell of cat urine, it should be a nice stay.

This is a great space and a perfect location. I cant really imagine finding anything better for the price and it was exactly what we needed. The house is old, and I believe that is part of what contributes to the smell, but there's also some kind of animal smell. I honestly wonder if it isn't bats? The primary smell seemed to be coming from the entry area and when we closed of the door at the top of the stairs it made it much better. Overall though, this is a great place. We have animals at home and live on a hobby farm, the smell wasnt that bad and for the price and location I will definitely look to stay here again!

Our stay in Nauvoo was absolutely wonderful, thanks to Rebecca and her exceptional apartment. Rebecca was incredibly informative and proactive in her communications before our stay, making everything seamless and stress-free. The apartment itself was immaculate and exceeded our expectations in every way. It had everything we needed, which truly made our time in Nauvoo easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend staying here—Rebecca has created a fantastic experience for her guests!

The house was perfectly located within walking distance to stores and downtown. I was sufficient in size. Unfortunately it smelled like cat urine and kitty litter. When we wanted to buy some form of air freshener, there was a note stating that they were not allowed to be used in the house?! . The shower water never got hot enough. It stayed just above the warm temp. The wood stairs leading up to the house were not lit and so it was dangerous to walk up and down when they were wet and slippery.

Pros: The place was very clean and comfortable for our stay. The location was excellent. The hostess was kind and was willing to make our stay more comfortable. Cons: The smell of pets was REALLY BAD. The odor was overwhelming. It took some time before we got used to it, but it hit us every time we came back there.

REALLY nice apartment! Comfy and well stocked with bedding, pots and pans, towels etc. Its an old house, which I love, but the floor creaks so don't plan on sneaking in the kitchen for a midnight snack! We had a super great time and definitely would come back to this apartment!

I recently stayed at this apartment and was extremely disappointed. The pictures promised a clean, cozy space with a blue couch, a tan chair, a beautiful rug, and a twin bed. However, the reality was far from what was advertised. The blue couch was actually covered in a sloppy, ill-fitting cover over a non-functioning pull-out bed. The tan chair? Covered with an unattractive floral print slipcover. There was no rug in sight. To make matters worse, the house smelled strongly of cat urine upon entering, and the odor only intensified when the air conditioner was on, circulating the smell throughout the apartment. When I brought this up to the owner, I was told, Some people smell it, some don’t, and they offered me a candle as a solution. A candle?! There's even a note on the refrigerator that says, Do not use air fresheners in the apartment, only cleaning supplies, which made me question if the apartment had been cleaned properly. I’m shocked that no one has written a review about this before. I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean and pleasant stay.

It was a cute little place. It was just me and a friend so plenty of room. Excellent location and easy parking. I could smell the cat smell that other reviews posted about so just be aware of that if you are allergic. The place was clean. We didn't need to use the kitchen at all so I can't speak to appliances.

The master bed is comfortable. The bunk beds appear to be sized and accessible for children rather than adults (tight squeeze but doable). Two full baths great for multiple people staying. The kitchen has plenty dishware, utensils, equipment. The rooms are clean. Rebeca was readily reachable.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the fairy Bowery. The location was perfect for our visit. We really didn’t spend much time there, but each night when we returned we had a great nights sleep. Plenty of beds, air mattresses, blankets, etc. We loved that it had two full bathrooms for our family of six.
