We had a wonderful stay. Char and Dick are wonderful hosts. There was a place to walk the dog and watch the stars. A great balcony to have morning coffee. Nearby Lake Ann has nightly outdoor music through the summer The extraordinary Sleeping Bear Dunes is 22 minutes away. There are a steps to go up to the apartment, so keep that in mind, but it was very manageable for us. We are so grateful to have found this affordable and comfortable spot.

The hosts were wonderful and the accommodations exactly as described. I would definitely stay there again as it is clean, comfortable and in a wonderful area!

The owners of the property live downstairs and are friendly, kind, and as accomodating as they can possibly be. The only warning I will give renters is that this is a small kitchen and cooking supplies are minimal as a result. I only saw 3 fry pans and 2 small sauce pans in the pictures so I brought a few items from my kitchen with me (my soup pot and, of course, my instant pot). It all worked out great. Just keep it in mind if you plan on cooking in. This was a good stay with good people on the property. They give you all the respect and privacy you could want.

Our stay was fine, only there to sleep and shower for the next day. We were working at a small conference and only needed basic accommodations.

I booked this home last minute and felt very safe as a single female! The place was easy to find, with clear check-in/check out instructions. This is the sweetest home with the sweetest owners!! You can tell they are very thoughtful and considerate, stocking the place with coffee, little treats, toiletries, and more. Communication was extra speedy and simple through text. I traveled by myself but the same was large enough with separate rooms and lovely covered outdoor patio. Looking forward to staying here again.

​Our stay at 'Emanuel' was an absolute dream and a perfect retreat from our everyday lives. From the moment we arrived, our hosts, Char and Duck, made us feel like part of their extended family. Their warmth, helpfulness, and accommodating nature were truly exceptional. ​The apartment itself is a lovely, comfortable, and cozy haven. We were so impressed by the thoughtful touches, from the charming decorations to the nice candies that welcomed us. It was the perfect base for our adventures. ​The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the breathtaking beauty of the region. We had the freedom to bike and were just a short distance from Empire, the fabulous M-22 scenic byway, and the magnificent trails, beaches, and dunes of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. ​A special and heartfelt thank you goes to their daughter, Gayle. She was incredibly gracious and giving with her time, watching over our two Australian Shepherds, Oakley and Rocky, who can be a handful! She walked them on the beautiful, nearly 5-acre property, which gave us such peace of mind to explore. ​We are so grateful to Char, Duck, and Gayle for sharing their incredible home and property with us. It was more than just a place to stay; it was a home away from home where we felt genuinely cared for. We cannot recommend this wonderful retreat highly enough!

Overall, great stay at all the basics we needed and very quiet

Unfortunately we encountered several issues throughout our stay. Overall the apartment lacked in cleanliness, the bathroom shower was extremely tiny (we could not bend over to wash our legs/feet without hitting our rear end on the back of the shower wall and we are very small women), the apartment had several things that were in need of repair or should have been repaire properly but were not, lighting was poor (for reading and putting on make-up), and issues presented to the owner's daughter were not resolved without repeated follow up and involvement on our part. Communication with owner's daughter was not the best (owner was elderly so daughter stepped in to assist). Primary issues were leaking/faulty toilet, beetles in our bed at night & a resident mouse in the living room. This would make a great hunter's cabin but it needs a lot of repairs made to make it a cozy vacation rental property.

Lovely, home-y place that was perfect for my desire to rest, reflect and work on a writing project.

Everything I needed was there and as a single, older person, I felt safe and secure. Thoughtful hosts.

It is like staying at home. The place is very spacious and cozy. The host gave us a call on the day of arrival and gave us clear instructions. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend it.

Great place to stay that is centrally located to many options for outdoor activities. Clean, comfortable and everything you need for hanging out for a few days. Dick and Char are very accomodating and friendly hosts ensuring you have what you need during your stay.

There was a snafu with communication and resulted in having to wait a few extra hours to check in. It was fine, though a little inconvenient. But after that little snafu, everything was great! It was a nice location, especially for the price. Once we got past the initial issue, the place was clean, comfortable, felt safe and secure, and was in a very nice up north-type area. It was perfect for our stay!

I only gave a 3 star rating because I never actually stayed at this property, but received a notification that the property manager had reviewed me as a guest, and I was required to submit a review to see his review of me. I had reserved this property but had zero communication from the property manager from the time of reservation until the day before check-in. I had tried to contact someone regarding my reservation, to no avail. As I was traveling alone, I decided I was uncomfortable with the situation and I canceled. Unfortunately, I had paid in full for an entire week, including fees, and lost all of my money. Fortunately, I found a much nicer property in a nearby location, on the water, with very hospitable property managers.
