Stayed Aug 3, 2022This was our first time renting a property instead of booking a hotel, and they were the most pleasant people to rent with. Elaine saw that we bought wine, but didn’t have glasses and brought us some nice crystal for the trip. They were cordial in asking if we needed laundry done, and places to visit on the island. We loved it here and definitely would come back.

Stayed Feb 14, 2025Elaine and Carter’s studio was perfect for my wife and I when visiting Volcanoes NP and Hilo. We spent I full day and 3 evenings in the National Park and 1 day exploring the beaches and waterfalls near Hilo. The studio was clean, well appointed and gated. Elaine and Carter were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay there again in our next visit!

Stayed Feb 2, 2025Great location for our visit to Volcano National Park . It also worked out very well for our time we spent in the Hilo area. Very quiet and nice cabin. We would stay again if we come back in the future. I will be recommending this property to family and friends.

Stayed Jan 13, 2025This property is a great place to sleep at night if you are visiting the volcano. Super close location to the volcano and the host are great at recommending places to go and explore! I was able to start hiking very early(like 5am early), worth it to see the stars and sunrise!! You are also in close range to many beaches in the area!

Stayed Nov 30, 2023Elaine was always prompt with responding to our emails and was friendly and helpful when we arrived. The charming studio was decorated for Christmas and had everything we needed (but don't plan on preparing food--very limited kitchenette). Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperative--raining, cool, very windy at Volcano, and we woke up to fog and drizzle in the morning--so we decided to stay only one night rather than the two that we had booked. The only negative is that the property is adjacent to the highway, and if you are a light sleeper, you will hear traffic noise during the night.

Stayed May 10, 2023We really enjoyed our stay at Carter & Elaine's Fern Studio. Carter welcomed us on arrival and was very helpful and friendly. The studio is a cozy place to stay for a couple nights if you are exploring the national park. We'd definitely stay here again!
