Nevada City, California
Central location, walk to events and restaurants in this historic Gold Rush town. Enjoy your own quiet, cozy 550 sq. ft. apartment with full kitchen in the lower level of a private home. Children welcome. Plenty of parking.
Comfortable 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment, for 1 to 4 adults (children welcome) with a queen bed and futon couch (Pack n Play available). The flat is in the basement of a home (quiet, single occupant). The ceilings are low (81'; one crossbeam descends 5-1/2') and, while there are plenty of windows, the apartment gets natural light mainly in the mornings. The apartment has its own entrance and an outdoor table and chairs.
Guests are asked to book a minimum of 2 nights and to only bring the number of guests agreed upon. Monthly rentals are welcome. A pet is possible, if quiet and well behaved and pre-approved by me (pet deposit required). Your pet may not be left alone in the apartment due to previous damages by pets. When applying please tell me something about yourself and your general purpose in coming to the area, especially if you have no personal profile posted.
This is a fabulous location in the heart of an old Victorian gold-mining town that makes a car unnecessary for most your needs.
Your host is a professional writer, teacher and world traveler, and is likely to be available to assist you for much of the year while writing her next book. Otherwise, the apartment is overseen by a very capable couple. We’re glad to recommend sightseeing, walks and local eateries that will make your stay extra special. Someone may check with you after arrival to make sure everything is okay; otherwise your privacy is respected.

Quiet neighborhood. Walking to all of downtown was under 2 mts! Big parking area. Dog loved it. Would definitely stay again. Price was so affordable.
Super close to all the restaurants and super friendly and welcoming!
Pleasant stay. Quiet. Convenient location. Friendly and helpful host.
Mary made everything seamless. place sweet..a little tiny run down...but sweet..well stocked kitchen, comfy sleeping arrangements, and quiet! thanks Mary, for your hospitality. .
My husband and I had a two-night getaway while my mom stayed with our kids, and this property was perfect for our stay. During the day we were out riding our mountain bikes, so we didn't spend much time hanging out there. But it was super close to town, and the parking situation was great so we never had to drive or deal with crowded parking in town. We loved being to walk to get coffee and breakfast in the morning, then spending the evening strolling the cute town and having dinner. Mary was a super responsive host and was very accommodating when we asked if we could leave our car parked for a bit after we checked out. Thank you!
Modest digs in a very convenient location. The downstairs location also keeps the apartment cool in hotter temps that can occur in Nevada City summers.
Good stay
This VRBO rental is such a quaint and charming place to stay. It is very much like Nevada City itself. The room was exactly as advertised and Mary was exceptional to work with before, during and after our stay. Safe and very easy to find with secure parking. Location makes it very easy to walk to almost everything Nevada City has to offer. If you're looking for the Nevada City experience, this is the place I would recommend.
Place was amazing. Views of the mountains were stunning. So close to everything but far enough away to not be in town. Very spacious interior. Yard was huge. Great place to stay and relax or drive a few minutes into town or Snowbowl.
Great location! While the space is cave-like, that makes an extra incentive to get out and enjoy the wonderful town and wilderness areas.
We enjoyed our stay at the little cottage. The bed was comfy, easy directions for the television remotes (which I appreciate!) and Mary did a fine job of accommodating our two doxies. It was easy to find, easy parking and a great location - just a few minutes walk to downtown. The only complaint was from my husband, the coffee maker had old coffee in it still and he had to clean it out.
I do LOVE this place. It is really big for one or two people. You can cook, work, sleep wonderfully, watch Netflix and plan you next walking tour around Nevada City without worrying about parking. This place comes with a BIG area to park that is flat and off the street. I was there in a BIG rain storm and it was super cozy! The HOST, Mary, is wonderful and so responsive -- making sure before you arrive that you have got everything your need to find the place and open the door! This has a very authentic Gold Rush era -- and 1950's VIBE -- which I LOVE!
This little cottage was perfect for our trip to Nevada City. So close to town we never had to drive anywhere. The owner was kind and helpful. We will be back for sure.
Visited the area briefly for a wedding and this place was perfect. Comfortable and cute, Mary was quick to answer any questions we had, and check in/out was very simple. We'd definitely stay here again!
We’ve stayed here before and enjoyed it. The place is in a good location. There is plenty of parking. We didn’t use the kitchen or tv so we can’t comment on them. We like the extra space you get instead of a hotel room. Mary is quick to answer any questions or concerns. We will definitely stay again.
Cute place! Centrally located. I would recommend.
Easy breezy and close to it all.
Very comfortable and clean. Easy private parking. Older home but updates that have been done, have been done well. No air conditioning, although comfortable enough, having to keep the windows closed up and fans going - this was in high 90's to100+ degrees for a few of the days I stayed and w/ smoky air from Mosquito Fire. Enjoyed the decor both inside and out and overall a great place to relax to.
Nice little apt
My husband and I had a great quiet stay. We spent our day at the World Music Festival and were happy to have a place to sleep that was close by. It was clean and convenient for our purpose.
Comfortable accommodations, close to downtown, older place, so some disrepair. It was cool, without air conditioning, as nicely shaded.
Mary is a nice lady and her description is very accurate, we had no problems during our stay. Be sure to read the property description, short cielings and not much light as described, but a good place to stay if you're in the area.
Great stay in Nevada City. Mary is timely and detailed in responding to both messages on the VRBO app and text messages. Super friendly. Basement entree is yours with easy parking. Don't bring your oversized, lifted truck though, this location and the town itself are not made for that. Narrow quaint streets and location. We did not cook in the kitchen because frankly we were on vacation and did not want to, but it seemed well stocked. Electric cook top. We did use the single serve coffee maker and there is a water cooker for tea and other hot beverages. Lots of windows that open and a little electric stove that keeps the temperature perfect to whatever you need on cooler days. Single cabin shower with soap and shampoo provided along with towels and toilet paper. Bedroom space and a couch that folds out into a oversized sleeper. Two chairs and a TV with satellite, Netflix and others. Also two chairs and a little table to sit outside and enjoy some fresh air and sun. Books and games also there, plus a binder with information about places to eat, visit and get what you need. All of it simple, low cost and pleasant. Not a party location, but a place to put up your feet, get rest in between the adventures of your visit. We would absolutely stay there again if Mary will have us.
