At the entry to West Burton the road runs alongside Walden beck with its picturesque cascades and deep pools. An enchanting pack horse bridge crosses the beck leading to the heights of Morpeth Scar and under the distant crags of Penhill. Here set back from the roadside is The Garth in private grounds with the two apartments of Beck Side, a ground floor apartment, and Bridge view, a first floor apartment.

The gated entrance to The Garth opens to a large gravelled parking and turning area at the front of the properties. The main access to Beck Side is through French windows which open to a lounge with flagged hearth and multi-fuel stove and dining area. Off the lounge is a well equipped fitted kitchen. To the side of the kitchen is a bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. Also from the kitchen a hallway leads to a shared utility room with full washing and drying facilities. The apartment can also be entered through an external door which leads to a walled, flagged patio with access to the bedroom.

Beck Side is a cosy, ground floor apartment with modern stylish rooms, oak furniture, fine fittings and all the conveniences of modern life. A keen eye to detail and the needs of holidaymakers has resulted in an apartment with all that is required for contemporary living in a relaxing air.

Great cosy accommodation with parking at the door, cleanliness is amazing and everything is provided including home made fruit bread by Sandra which was delicious! Yorkshire tea (of course)! Also coffee and milk. The property is just on the edge of the village with a 5 minute walk to the local pub which does great food. Both Sandra and Les are great host.

Everything was fine although my wife found the mattress a touch hard. The weather was not the best but we did enjoy our stay .

Small but perfect for a short break for two. Excellent location, clean, comfortable and warm, everything we wanted and some lovely goodies too.

A lovely little cottage, well equipped and close to the village. The owners were friendly and welcoming.

This was our second stay in Beckside and just as enjoyable as our first. The apartment is immaculate with everything you could need for a self-catered stay in the Dales. A comfortable seating area with log burner for chilly evenings, fully equipped modern kitchen, large double bedroom with plenty of storage space leading into the bathroom with shower over a bath. We also had use of a utility and drying area if needed. On arrival, we were greeted with a tea tray including home-made Barm Brack - delicious - and in the fridge we found eggs, milk and a jar of home-made lemon curd. Thoughtful little touches that helped to make our stay so special.

Beck side cottage is absolutely outstanding. My wife and I have been coming to the Yorkshire Dales for many years and stayed in various holiday cottages, but this is the best one yet.

Another fabulous stay, help by the weather being dry and bright for February. Loved the log fire in the evenings. Accommodation is very comfortable, good quality bedding etc, and it’s the best equipped kitchen that we have every stayed in. Nice welcome from Sandra with homemade lemon curd and cake, eggs and milk really made us feel our custom was appreciated. We will look forward to coming back in the future.
