We loved the outdoor kitchen and enjoying mornings and evenings on the back patio, either by or in the hot tub. The marsh sunrise from the bed was also a treat. We brought our own kayaks and kayaked quite a bit, and the birding was phenomenal, lots of wood storks and roseate spoonbills. Our host Cookie, who treated us with grace and generosity, lined us up with a local seafood delivery and we feasted on shrimp and fresh fish almost every meal. We were there Monday through Friday and except for a little boat traffic on Thursday and the yard crew next door, we had the marsh to ourselves. Possibly a blessing of being there on weekdays in August. The outdoor shower and on site ice machine also added to the experience.
This little cottage was so relaxing. Cookie was super accommodating and helpful. She works to make sure her guest are comfortable and immediately handles any bumps you might encounter. This little getaway is great for a couple that simply wants to relax. The scenery is beyond beautiful and the view from the cottage is front and center. I would highly recommend renting a kayak and paddling around to see the birds and dolphins. Thank you for a relaxing stay!
We loved this place! Cookie is amazing and made us feel so welcome. She goes above and beyond with all her extra special touches. The boil is a must!! Took a drive into Savanah and Cookie suggested Leopold’s Ice Cream...Yum!! The dolphins did not disappoint! We loved taking the kayaks out at sunset with the dolphins swimming all around us. It was heaven! We are so happy we found this hidden gem.
Stayed here one weekend in February. Beautiful property on the water. Cookie was great! I was a little hesitant when I read that she lived on the property. I’ve had some not so great experiences with owners living on the property in the past. However, she was very friendly, laid back but not intrusive. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.
This property is quite unique. The sunsets were spectacular. Cookie was the perfect hostess and answered our requests quickly. The hot tub was great for a nice relaxing soak. Cookie thanks again for your hospitality and for the island cocktail and your delicious crumb cake. Albert & Huguette 8/3/19
My husband and I truly enjoyed this little piece of heaven. For a relaxing, no stress, low key vacation this is the spot! Cookie welcomes you and treats you like royalty. We cooked up delicious meals as we watched the dolphins play. Don’t let me forget the hanging bed. You could see the water right from the bed every morning. What a view!
We might’ve overstayed our welcome (we were there a month) but every day brought new joys; even the ferocious windy rainy one which also brought waves. It is a rare occurrence to wake up to a 180* view of water, marshlands, and Spanish moss backlit by the early dawn, however we got to do it every day. We were pleased with and grateful for our tireless hostess, Cookie, who knows everyone and everything worth knowing in the area. A friend of Cookie’s showed us where to safely harvest oysters, and we were excited to go out without his assistance and get our own later in our stay. My husband was able to fish often and we enjoyed exploring the creeks by boat. We had the best local seafood, both home cooked and at restaurants, that we’ve had anywhere. Sunbury’s Crab Company was a standout for its steamed seafood platter, and The Fish Dock at Pelican Point is famous for its fresh oysters and shrimp. Our dog also had a wonderful time, finding several equally energetic friends to run with, box, chase, and romp together in the pluff mud. My only complaint is that blue crabs were not plentiful enough to put together a crab feast! Altogether this was a terrific vacation destination, one to which we’ll be returning soon. Many thanks to Cookie and all her neighbors who welcomed us and made us feel right at home.
To begin with let me just say Cookie is the best! She treats her guests as though they were family and made sure we were happy and comfortable with the Casita. each day she made a suggestion for a restaurant to go to based on where our adventures took us. Whether it was eating with the local crowd, or a trendy vegan cafe (that had these meat eaters spellbound!) to a quaint mom and pop style spot with homemade crab cakes measuring 7 inches across, every single one was just what we needed as we filled our adventurous days with cycling, kayaking and just good ol’ exploring in a part of the country we didn’t know much about. The Casita was our home base and after a full day the hot tub and starry sky relaxed us before we climbed into bed for the night. Have you ever slept in a swinging bed? Well that gentle sway rocks you to sleep and before you know it you are greeted with the sunrise in the most tranquil spot around. We hated to leave, but we will definitely return to the Casita.
This is the place you go to breathe, unwind from the everyday go, go of life. How a vacation should be. Peaceful with great views, great hospitality. Place is very clean. Loved the swinging bed. The Casita is cozy and inviting. Thank you Cookie for all your hospitality.
My new wife and I recently stayed for ten days in this wonderful paradise! The amazing views, generous hospitality, and endless wilderness make this place truly unforgettable. We decided to stay here on our honey moon, and will be back for future vacations. Our adventures have been from Canada to Everglades National Park, and this area is by far the most beautiful! No other place have we been able to shower outside while watching dolphins swim close by. Cookie has been the best host we have ever had, and looking forward to seeing her again. I recommend asking her to make a memorable breakfast on your stay.
