Coco Beach (Apartment 3A) on the Beachfront

My reservation, booked several months in advance, was changed at the owner’s convenience three times before my arrival. Each time I was assured that I was being moved into the nicest unit with the best furnishings. I arrived to an apartment with major plumbing problems, which he knew of prior to my arrival. The shower didn’t drain and the toilet leaked water onto the floor constantly. After complaining incessantly about the dirty toilet water and a few half-hearted attempts to repair, I was moved into another apartment for a few days while more extensive repairs were to be done. However, when I returned to the apartment the same plumbing problems occurred – even though I was assured the repairs were tested and all was well. Additionally, the electricity went out one day in the afternoon and he failed to respond to my whatsapp message until the following day. Luckily, the housekeepers were able to fix the problem with the help of the building maintenance. Finally, the water was turned off for non-payment of bill and I had no water for the last several days of my stay. I was forced to use a public shower on the beach. He provided bottled water after many complaints but complained about the cost of using this water for dishes and flushing the toilet Because of these issues, I would not recommend this host or this apartment. Not to mention, the mismatched, low quality kitchen pots and pans. Or the plastic coverings on the pillows. Or the lack of a shower curtain due to the rusted and bent shower curtail rod. This was a completely frustrating experience. There are many apartments on Ponta Negra beach with similar views and furnishings which costs much less. I encourage you to research other options and avoid this place. The 4.7 rating based on 60 reviews is misleading because these were hosted by a previous owner or management. They do not reflect the condition under the new owner.
