Astoria is gritty, and likes it that way. But that rustic exterior is just a cover for the many enchanting dichotomies you’ll find waiting around the next corner. Here, fisherman are poets, loggers drink espresso, and Main Street welcomes both nouveau gallery and five n’ dime.
For Astoria, it’s about character, and it’s also about characters: the people who call this place home with a passion that borders on evangelical. The skipper who challenges the same mighty river his great grandfather once fished. The artist who migrated here in search of a new palette. The hotelier who resurrected a once-bustling pier.
Astoria is that little town that could, a city of 10,000 people on the Columbia River, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Founded 200 years ago at the beginning of Oregon’s North Coast, Astoria has been through boom and bust times more than once, weathering the collapse of both the Columbia River fishery and Oregon timber industry. It has risen once again as a cultural haven, often referred to as “little San Francisco.” Astoria is an old place that is newly hip. Here, Victorian mansions and maritime relics live in harmony with chef-driven restaurants and tattoo parlors.
Astoria is a port city founded in 1811. It is the oldest city in the state of Oregon and was the first American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains.
The county is the northwest corner of Oregon, and Astoria is located on the south shore of the Columbia River, where the river flows into the Pacific Ocean. The city is named for John Jacob Astor, an investor and entrepreneur from New York City, whose American Fur Company founded Fort Astoria at the site and established a monopoly in the fur trade in the early nineteenth century. Astoria was incorporated by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on October 20,
1876.

Very nice. All the amenities. Nice view. Close to everything, but out of the way of the congestion of downtown. We really enjoyed it!
We loved this place! It was relaxing and comfortable. We felt the owners had put in a lot of nice touches--and everything we needed had been thought of. Marie was easy to get a hold of and responded quickly. We look forward to returning!
Beautiful proprty, very clean & neat. Lovely views & lots of room! Easy access, good communication with owner. Highly reccomend this as get away destination.
From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with sights that were simply beyond belief. Whether it was the early morning sun casting a golden hue over the landscape or the starry night sky undisturbed by city lights, every moment felt like a scene from a postcard. The property itself was comfortable and well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant stay. However, it was the unparalleled views that truly set this place apart, making it a perfect getaway for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature’s beauty.
We had a great time and saw a lot of birds including eagles! Thank you!
Beautiful and spacious, not as small as the pictures made it look. Very pleasantly surprised. Kitchen is well stocked, even has an air fryer! The views from Stateroom 1 were beautiful, I bet room 2’s views are even better. The bed was super comfortable. The only critique I have, would be to put the nice room darkening blinds that are in the living and kitchen areas into the bedroom. Looking forward to staying there again on our next trip to Astoria.
Outstanding. Everything was so well thought out. Lots of attention to every little thing inside and out. Lovely views out over the bay waters from all the living areas, bedroom and kitchen. Everything was attractively done and very well taken care of inside. Very clean. Nicely appointed kitchen, living area, bathroom and laundry. A little off the beaten path of the city but not much. That meant a peaceful stay where you could watch the bufflehead ducks, green wing teals and cormorants in the morning then take a short drive to the various attractions in and around Astoria. Even a beaver (not a nutria) came by early while we were there. One of the nicest most well taken care of VRBO's we have ever stayed at. The owners clearly have taken great pride in this property. Parking is snug but easy once you pull in.
Parker Landing was a perfect place for our romantic/birthday weekend. Beautiful views, beautiful stateroom with everything you need. Great access to town without being in the center of it all.
Everything was great.
I could not stop telling all my family and friends what a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful place this is! Unbelievable, and I mean that, value for the dollar! There’s a little bit of traffic noise in the morning but nothing to bother you. For me, the bed was much too soft, but I like a really firm mattress Other than those small things, everything was exquisite! LOVE THIS PLACE!
This was a wonderful place to stay! It was clean and comfortable with gray views of Young’s Bay.
Spent a weekend here to visit Astoria. Great views of the river on both sides, close to town but quiet neighborhood. Super clean and easy check-in/check-out. Would recommend!
We went to Astoria to relax and explore in Fall 2022. This place was the perfect location to meet our needs. Open water views out walls of adjacent picture windows from the living room and peaceful water/ wildlife views from the patio deck. It was super comfy, clean and inviting. Our host was very thoughtful and allowed us an early check in and made sure the accommodations served all our needs. Such as a little coffee bar, toiletries, nice soaps. Extra linens, and even thought to provide a jar of new hair ties (because a good ponytail is a must on the beach! ) The location was easy to find and nestled just far enough away from the city hustle and bustle. The assigned parking was nice and close and the digital code lock made life easy with no key to keep track of. We were sad to leave and look forward to returning again.
very nice
Very clean and convenient to many adventures! Loved living here for the week! Watching the river and wildlife was relaxing.
What a beautiful place. It is well appointed with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and view of gorgeous hills and birds.
The wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at this location. It was extremely peaceful and relaxing. I would rent it again.
