Or visit one of the famous Musea Amsterdam has by walking up to one of the free Ferries and get into the tram or metro. Even by bike it is only 20 minutes away.

Your host has a lot of knowledge on where one can go, all depending if it needs to be a local, cultural experience or just for food and good music. It's all there you just have to make something good out of it.
