Casanou - Stunning Trou Aux Biches 3 Bedroom Beachfront Apartment

The maid is lovely and will happily cook Mauritian food if you ask her. She comes and cleans almost everyday so it’s a real treat and a lovely holiday. Was a bit of a mix up when we arrived but all was solved and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. You can enjoy the view from the shade of the terrace when it gets hot or you’re having your lunch!!

It was my 6th time on Mauritius, due to family ties in Port Louis, but it was the first time in a right-at-the-Beach-Apartment. The 2-Storey Appartment (one big Bedroom with an additional bed for a baby and a little toilet-room was placed right beneath the roof) was perfect (if not too big ;-)) for my travel mate and me. The fact that the logistics for a day at the beach were quite simple (two big towels over my shoulder and a good book in my hand) is a big plus for any apartment right at the beach. Our mornings were spent on the quite spacious balcony (one quarter of the balcony is without a roof ... very lazy folks could have their sunbath here on the 2 sunloungers instead of making the 40 steps trip to the beach) while chilling out on these very comfy wicker chairs (are they called like this ... not sure here). Our wonderful maid Lora (greetings to her please) took care of the rooms each day except Sunday ... and she did a very good job not only cleaning the house but also with her very natural, friendly and welcoming demeanor in the conversations we had (helped me a lot to improve my terrible french)!! The kitchen is fully equipped, absolutely no shortcomings here. No worry about bringing towels to the island, the apartment provides more than enough. The place is situated directly opposite a very fine pizza-place (seriously ... i mean it ... pizza there is top notch ... they got an italian chef) and approximately 30 meters from a little super market (Chez Popo) where you can get everything you need and then some!!! Two other restaurants are easily reachable by foot left and/or right down the road. On our arrival day we were welcomed by our host Cyril, who lives in the other house on the property and who was kind enough to drive with us to an open supermarket in Grand Baie (it was late Sunday afternoon so Chez Popo was already closed) ... we only got our rental car the next day (parking place on property included). The only criticism must be directed at ourselves, for staying only two weeks and the time-related problems that occur when you have so little time ... a few more chill-out-beach days would have been fine (we drove around the island and went diving a LOT) ... plus we would have liked at least one more evening with our lovely hosts ... IT WAS AN OVERALL PERFECT STAY .. we intend to come back!!!! Thanks to Hans and Cyril Gauthier (and every other Gauthier involved ;-))!!!!
